Meteorologist measure weather -- they look at what causes the weather conditions. They use instruments to measure rainfall, temperature, speed and direction of wind, humidity and air pressure - it is science and science isn't 100% exact. All they can do is predict based on the evidence from the instruments. As it is a scientific position, I doubt they 'con' people for money. But don't expect them to be miracle workers and be right all the time.

I think weather forecasts are becoming more reliable as the years go by. Obviously in UK our weather is so full of suprises a 90% accuracy is pretty good but people must be sensible about it. If it predicts showers it can be heavy rain, If they predict dry but cloudy expect a little rain

I bet you weren't listening carefully.
Unless it's actually raining, they usually say things like "There's a 60% chance of rain later today."
That doesn't mean it will definitely rain, it means that 60% of the time that conditions are like the conditions at that time, it rains later.
ONCE a predicted rain didn't happen, and therefore none of them are every correct in any prediction, and they are thieves?
I suppose you've never made any kind of mistake in your life, since, by your standards, that makes you completely worthless in every way, and everything you say a lie.
Most of the time, they're right.
Expecting anything more is absurd. No rational being would do so.

LoL, you are funny biscuit.
Weather forecasting is a science. They use different scientific models to determine what is going to happen in your particular region due to the effects of the global weather system. They then "forecast" based on the most probably model they receive from scientific inquiry.
Not cons just science is limited to probability in terms of forecasting the weather.

Totally. I mean, since the pressure gradient force, the Jet Stream, high/low pressure systems, etc. are all bullsh!t and could never affect the weather at all, these morons must be some part of a worldwide conspiracy to con news stations out of their massive cash reserves.

i believe in the weather forecasts just as much as i do in long term weather forecasts, like global warming.
no more reliable than tossing a coin in the air hoping it lands standing upright on it's side. theoretically possible, but realistically very very improbable.

There once was a boy who always failed tests. One day the teacher asked him why he could not do better. After all, what job could he possibly get where he had the correct answer less than 70% of the time.
He said, "I am going to be a weatherman."
Remember,
Al Gore did not invent the Internet,
But he did make up Global Warming.

I believe in them and have seen and heard them. I just don't believe they are always accurate. Air currents change sometimes unexpectedly. All they can do is try to determine what MOST LIKELY will happen given the present data.
