Just to clarify I'm a Muslim.

You say that Jesus is God and that he was born from Mary through a miracle (I agree with him being born from Mary through a miracle). Yet you say he is God's son and that Mary is God's wife. How can he be his own father? Does the whole "Trinity" concept make sense to you? If it does can you help me understand?

By the way I'm not trying to taunt you I just wanna know. Thanks.

1) Sorry for saying you believe Mary is God's wife.

2)Apparently "Leviathan" didn't get it when I said I wasn't out to insult or discredit anyone's religion.

3) Can the atheists who just want to insult all forms of religion (like "backstreet girl) quit answering unless they have a legitimate answer for me?

Thank you.

Honest question, honest answer. Jesus is NOT His own father. The doctrine of the Trinity is very clear on that. There are three persons but only one God.

There are two fatal errors to avoid in trying to really understand - as you appear to be doing - the Trinity. One is saying that there is only one Person in God, and the other is saying the three Persons are separate Gods. The latter, by the way, is why the Muslim concept of "association" does not apply to Jesus. He is not separate in essence from God the Father, though He is a separate Person.

We Christians cannot fully comprehend the Trinity, by the way: we simply accept what the Bible says, knowing that God's ways and being are far above our understanding. Something can make sense without us completely understanding it. I believe airplanes can fly even though I don't know exactly how they do it.

The Trinity is a difficult concept for Christians, much less anyone else.

One of the things we believe is that understanding of some things is given by the Holy Spirit (one of the members of the Trinity) as we become capable of understanding them. So while I can't give you that understanding, and some people will disagree with my presentation of the facts, I can give you some information regarding the concept.

The first place in the Bible we see the Trinity demonstrated is in the Gospel of Matthew, Chapter 3. Read the whole chapter if you get the opportunity to understand the background, but the Trinitarian part is from verse 13 through verse 17. Jesus is baptized, and the Holy Spirit descends on him like a dove. Not an actual dove, mind you, but the best way that they knew how to describe the event was "like a dove". Then the voice of God speaks and says, "this is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased". All three aspects of the Trinity appear in this moment.

So we have three different aspects of God appearing at once, but in other parts of the Bible we are taught that Christ is, in every sense, God. We are also taught that the Holy Spirit is, in every sense, God. The concept of the Trinity is how this is reconciled. They are distinct, but unified.

One of the other things we believe, by the way, is what God told the prophet Jeremiah. You will find God when you seek Him with all your heart. If that is what you are doing, then you are going to find Him, one way or another. Keep looking!

The belief that Mary is "God's Wife" is not scriptural and is more of a Catholic belief than a Christian one. Mary was a virgin; God did not "lie with her" as a human would. She was overshadowed by the Holy Spirit, who would have simply created 23 chromosomes to add to her egg.
The trinity, which is scriptural, since the bible does speak many times of the "Father, Son, and Holy Spirit", I would describe as 3 manifestations of the same God. God the Father is a consuming fire, whom one cannot look at without dying. God the Son is God manifested in human form, working miracles, bringing back people from the dead and paying the penalty for our sins. (Only a perfect, sinless sacrifice will do). The Bible says that "the wages of sin is death." That is, we all deserve death for the bad things we do. Sin is defined as the transgression of God's Law, or the 10 Commandments. Someone who has the blight of sin on them cannot enter a holy, sinless Heaven. That is why Christ paid the penalty for us, so that whosoever believes in Him is now "clean" to enter Heaven. It is also the Son that will return in great glory to retrieve His church, and resurrect the saved dead of all ages. At that time, He will also destroy all sin and sinners.
The Holy Spirit is the third manifestation of God, who is the part of God that lives in our hearts. This is the part that tells us what is right and wrong, and guides us and comforts us throughout life.
The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit never, ever contradict each other; they have the same personality; they all speak and act the same. They are One.
In the Bible, Jesus is often described as "The Word", such as in the verses below:

John 1:1 ¶ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.

John 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

John 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

God is not Mary's wife. You believe that Jesus was born to Mary through a miracle- then why can't you believe that Jesus did miracles, died on the cross and rose from the dead? If a baby can be conceived by the Holy Spirit, and not by an earthly father, can't you imagine that God could and would do anything so that we could have a relationship with Him. Simplistically , God is one, but has three roles- He is the Father, came the earth as the Son, and lives in believers through His Spirit. The Son came to save us from our sin- He paid the price we could never pay. He is risen, and lives to intercede for us.- also to give us victory over the grave. That is as simple as I can get- theologically it would be explained in much deeper terms. Can I ask you what makes it easy to be a Muslim?- no taunting meant here either.

Mary was the human chosen to give life to Jesus, she was not God's "wife" but rather she was ordained to raise Jesus. Jesus is a part of the trinity - the Father (God), the Son, and the Holy Spirit (which lives within us). Therefore, the Trinity is a spiritual circle that was able to be made because Jesus died for our sins so that we may be forgiven. The Bible says that this is the only way that we be forgiven is to be saved by the blood of Christ, if we so choose to believe and accept him into our lives. So basically, the Trinity is what allows us to be one with God. Of course, the idea is to follow God's word (the Bible) and the more we follow it, the closer we are to Him.

This is what Catholics believe.

I believe in one God the Father Almighty, creator of Heaven and Earth, and in Jesus Christ His only son, Our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into Hell, (doesn't mean Hell as defined in the doctrine) the third day he rose again from the dead, he ascended into Heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty, from there He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sin, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting . Amen.

Trinity concept = God works in 3 form.
as God the divine being who created everything, as Jesus who give His life for human and teach the way of God, and as the Holy Ghost that leads human and remind them the right way to eternal life.

Mary is not God's wife. Mary is Joseph's wife. We believe because we have faith. Faith is both the substance of things hoped for and the evidence that things exist that are not yet perceived with the senses.

I'm sorry, I cannot help you understand, any more than you could help me understand your religion. Yes, the concept of the Trinity makes sense to me. However, I have heard Mary described as the Mother of God but not the wife of God. In fact, one of our prayers includes the beseechment, "Holy Mary, Mother of God." So I do believe your idea that Mary is called God's wife is mistaken. To really understand the Christian religion, you would need to study with a theologist who knows their stuff; not just some poor schmuck on YA on is struggling through to their own salvation. Like I said, I don't understand how you believe what you believe, either; but I am sure my idea of what you believe is as mistaken as your ideas about what Christians believe.

Mary is not God's wife, she was the chosen vessel which he was born in mortal form. The three parts of the trinity are hard for us to grasp since we are but mortals. God the spirit, God the flesh and God the father. Think of water; There is liquid, solid and steam, three parts of one thing, yet all the same thing. God does not hold the boundaries that we hold. God is not held by human confinements.

Hope that helped. :)
