First, you should call any plastic surgeon's office and ask.

Or, you can call your local library. Ask for "reference." They have all the resources to answer your question, and it is their job to answer that question.

Good luck, and be careful. You don't want to get butchered! Actually, my guess is that if a student is doing the procedure, there will be a certified surgeon watching.

Great question! Great thinking of a way to save thousands of $$$! Deserves a star! Good luck. :)

Before a doctor gets into plastic surgery, he already has to be a qualified surgeon, so he is not exactly "in training" in the same sense that a trainee dentist would be working under the supervision of a qualified instructor. There may well be surgeons who are branching out into the cosmetic field, and yet to have the years of practise and training that well established ones have. But, are you really willing to take a risk with your face, for example, or some other body part, just because you might get it done a little cheaper? I know I darn sure wouldn't.

I think before an established surgeon sets up on his own in this field, he very probably undergoes an extensive additional course of training in this specialty, so that he can obtain his separate certification, which then hangs on his office wall. If and when I ever go for any "nip and tuck" work, I am going to want to see that big certificate up on the wall, way before he lays a scalpel on me, and I think any right-minded person would too.
