One of my all-time favorite movies, and yes the basic training scenes were filmed at Ft. Jackson, SC. Other parts were filmed in and around Detroit, MI. Remember the part where they had to go into Canada to see the play? In the movie, the basic training post was called by another name that I cannot recall but the "Victory Starts Here" slogan was real. I attended Ft Jackson in 1990 and was blown away when I saw the movie about how realistic it was.

There are no Army bases; only Naval and Air Force bases are allocated for the U.S.

Army installations are usually called forts or camps. Forts are for full-time active units and camps are reserved for inactive or seasonal operations. The three active military installations in North Carolina are Fort Bragg, Pope AFB, and Shaw AFB.

Fort Jackson, South Carolina, is the answer to your question. It was there that I attended the NCO Academy in 1963.
