Although in my 50's I participate in motocross. Sometimes, I suffer terrible cramp afterwards. It usually occurs some 4-6 after I've finished an event. Normally happens if I stand up after sitting or lying down for a while in the evening.I can only describe the pain as excrutiating, and I get it in my inner thigh muscle. What's the best way to prevent it?

Take a hot bath with 2c. of dissolved Epsom salts. Soak for 30 minutes. The Epsom salts will help eliminate the lactic acid that forms on the muscles from over exertion.
Massage an analgesic cream into the sore muscles.
Dehydration can cause severe pain in the muscles. I recommend you drink purified water mixed with Mineral Water 50/50. This will replace the minerals that are exiting your body continuously. You must drink beyond your thirst to get the benefits of hydration and the real key is the Mineral Water.
I suggest that adults and children drink 40 ounces of water per 100 pounds of body weight every day. Realize that exercise, ambient temperature, and state of health affect the water needs of your body. One tip for athletes: it is healthier to drink a sports drink or water than fruit juice, soda, coffee, or milk during competition or active training periods.
500mg of calcium and magnesium, taken twice daily, can help with diminishing the pain.
Advil liqui capsules work very quickly on pain. Take them four times daily.

Cramps are caused by muscles going into spasms. Perhaps you will have to warm up before participating in motocross. Some people say it is caused by not enough salt in the body. I suppose if you were sweating a lot this could happen.

A lot of crystalline compounds are formed in the muscles when the muscles are used during strenuous exercises. As long as they are not dissolved, they cause the pains in the muscles. They could either dissolve naturally over time or with the help of analgesic.

Ewwwwww that really hurts I had that or years. I feel for you. I was advised that I didn't have enough salt in my diet. I try to eat oily fish 2 -3 times a week because Omega 3 is meant to help. Since eating oily fish, and adding sea salt to my diet. You know the flakey stuff you grind yourself. Well everything has been fine since then. Touch wood.

I think you should make a visit to your doctor, tell him about this and he should send you for a blood test. My husband had this and it turned out to be kidney trouble, it will only show up in the blood test.

You don't have enough potassium. You can try bananas or dill pickle juice. I was in sports med, and we used dill pickle juice on our players.
