I've always heard if you unthaw meat (or anything that has been frozen) that you should not put it back in the freezer. Why is that?? If I unthaw a 4 pack of chicken and only need 2 peices why is it that I've heard you can't put them back in the freezer to save for later?? Is this true and why?? Just wondering lol

I'm not certain it has any health related ramifications, but it might make the texture of the meat change, and not for the better (could be tough, or mealy). Part of the equation may be how the items are defrosted too- quickly or slowly- which could cause bacteria to form, that would be killed by cooking but not by refreezing. These are just guesses and not researched answers.

OK the reason for the we have bacteria on are hands even after we wash them. The bacteria can go unto the chicken and then you re - freezing the chicken the next time you take it and unthaw it could make you sick. If you would take the time to put the meat in smaller portions be four you freeze the meat that will help you to have the right portion for your next meal.

this is true if you go out some meat to disfroze you have to cooke the hole thing because if you put it back in the freezer it will taste nasty and it whont taste good no more so the best thing to bue is to cook the hole chiken breast or next time when you go to the store and you whant to buy chicken that has to pices you get them and you buy the so you could have to pices of it to cook ok
