Are you serious?? More details please!

In answer to your question: No, pretty much everyone I know is an atheist so it's just the normal state to be.

EDIT: Shaking my head in disbelief here in the UK...

Of course not - I know some theists use the word as if they're saying 'Satan! Satan!' but that doesnt change the meaning of the word.

Nobody should have to be called an atheist - nobody has to use a word to denote that they don't believe in fairies, do they?

Christ! Iread that article the bit that surprised me most was where it said 'the religious hysteria that has prevailed since 9/11' - I thought people flying planes in to building to kill thousands of innocent people because they thought they'd make god happy and go to heaven and be rewarded with virgins would make people LESS religious. Guess I didn't realise how bad its got in the states.

I have lived in St. Pete, so this doesn't surprise me at all. Just more of the Christian compassion and tolerance I hear so much about.
Christians are not above removing "objectionable" material on their own either- I had several Buddhist and Gandhi bumper stickers ripped off my car.

That is the most ridiculous, restrictive limit of freedom Ive yet to see. It all happens down south too. I mean, look at the totally stupid, restrictive law against low hanging pants. Th united states its spiraling downhill continously. Its disgusting.

That is ridiculous. The word "ATHEIST" is not obscene nor objectionable.

Some Theist annoy me. LoL

It is as obscene and objectional as the word "stone" or "pencil".

I'm an Atheist, an Afairyist, an Acentaurist, an Aleprechaunist....

In a nutshell, I'm an Adelusionist.

It can be obscene and objectionable depending on the way it's communicated. Who can say something without offending anyone else?

I do not believe Atheism is to be outlawed, but I know they are wrong. But everyone has the right to be wrong.

I think it's a word used my "christians" do describe people that do not believe what they do..

personally I wouldn't choose to be called atheist or christian..

I don't need to be placed in a group and I'm certainly not placing myself in one.

I like the word "atheist". It's one of the words I use to describe myself and some of the people I like best in this world.
I would like to know more about the idiots in FL though.....
