I'm completely drained and I feel so guilty about being so exhausted and tired - I feel like I'm being lazy! Is there anything that helped you or you think may help me to gain some energy back!? I go to bed by 9 or ten and up no earlier than 4:30am depending on if I'm nannying or not.

While you are 'making feet for booties' you will be tired. Period.

Pamper yourself. Take long bubblebaths, play with the baby, ignore the dishes, don't vacuum at all, and sleep in if you feel like it.

Protect your sunny attitude and happy feelings so that the new baby will have a great attitude. Be sweet to your 1 year old and maybe take a five minute walk each day with him/her.

Trust me, you will be much better off, and your kids will, too. About one year after the new baby is born, your energy will magically return, if you don't push yourself too hard before then.

I was so disgusted with myself when I was pregnant because I was so tired I could hardly get myself to move, and of course I had older kids who needed me. It turned out I was seriously anemic, which can happen in pregnancy. I was so relieved I had a medical excuse and wasn't just monstrously lazy. :-) You can ask your OB/GYN how your iron levels are, and if they're too low, they'll advise an iron supplement. (DON'T self-medicate ... only do it if your OB/GYN advises it. You don't want to hurt the baby if your iron is already fine!). It really worked wonders in my case.

If iron's not the culprit, try getting at least a little bit of exercise, and, whenever you can, nap with your 1-year-old. Eating right makes a big difference (and is good for the baby). If someone else can take the one-year-old on a regular basis (your partner, a grandparent, a babysitter) even just for an hour while you read a book or take a nap, that helps, too. Otherwise, at least you can rest assured that you'll be back to your normal self when the baby is born (or, rather, when the baby starts sleeping through the night!). Good luck.

I am 39 weeks and have a 19 month old son.

For me the most important ways to keep my energy up have been

1- getting a minimum of 8-9 hours of sleep a night.
2- eating many small meals throughout the day
3- making sure I keep my iron levels up by eating dried fruits and spinach salads
4- taking a small nap while my son naps in the afternoon
5- staying active (believe it or not)

Try Bee Alive Royal Jelly. The Sweet Energy Formula really rocks! It's far better than any I've tried.

EAT BANANAS!!! Seriously...do a google search on the health benefits of bananas, there are SOOOO many. It should be a banana a day keeps the doctor away. Also, whenever I need a quick pick me up, I grab a banana and 10 minutes later, I'm much better! Give it a try...

I know how you feel. I have a one year old and 7 month pregant with twins but the best advice I got on this issue was to rest when my daughter was and snack on veggies and let other people help you do thehouse work and chores. It was difficult for me to let people help but once i did I felt alot better and was able to play and spend more time active with her.

its seem as though you have alot of energy- you are pregnant! lol--- really though-- take your vitamins, eat oranges- eat healthy- and get your rest- you have to for the baby you are going to have. when your 1 year old naps, you nap too. you may have to make decision on being nanny or a mother right now- you really have alot going for you. just be careful and good luck.

Eat fruit. Lots and lots of fruit.

Fruit naturally gives you energy and it's healthy for you and the baby.
