I had a nightmare that recurred a few times when I was younger. I dreamt that I was in a narrow but vast dim hall with copper walls that have sharp spikes. The walls closed in and engulfed me. My mum was hugging me to protect me but she suddenly ran or slipped away from me and I was left alone to face those closing spikes. It was horrible. I didn't see what happened afterwards.

I think you are going through some sort of second birth, but it is something you have to largely go through yourself, something your mother can't necessarily see you through although she would like to do that.

It means that you're afraid of being left alone. That you want you mother to be there - as mother's should - to protect you and care for you. You didn't see what happened after you were left alone because it wasn't important.
