Atheists, what made you come to that conclusion?

Just so everyone knows, I am a Christian and just by the first few answers I can tell you right now that not all Christians will ever say that you are going to Hell. I believe that everyone has a chance to go to Heaven, even if they do not believe in God. There are so many Christians that believe that only Christians will go to Heaven. It is my personal belief that God is way more forgiving than people say He is. If someone is ignorant to His existance (being born in a remote African village). I believe that God will forgive that peoson at the pearly gates. Others do not believe so.

My personal belief is that every one of Gods creatures deserve respect and that regardless of weather they are an enemy or a friend, they deserve help mercy. God taught about mercy and love, that is what I try my best to profess.

I also am not afraid of Hell, I don't believe in God becasue I fear Hell, I believe in God and trust Him with my life and soul because I love Him and I know He loves too. God loves everyone unconditionally! He loves his enemy, He loves His friend. That is why I choose to follow the belief of God and Jesus Christ! My sins are accounted for and I have someone there for me forever to take care of me and to love me!

Because so many Christians promote their religion as fire insurance -- "believe or you'll burn in hell!" And because so many Christians seem to have accepted their religion for exactly that reason.

1) Because of the dozens of variations of Pascal's Wager that are pushed here every day, indicating that a lot of Christians appear to believe because of fear.

2) The bible:
Leviticus 25:17

Deuteronomy 4:10, 6:2, 6:13, 10:20 , 31:13

1 Chronicles 16:25

Job 28:28

Psalm 19:9, 25:14, 33:8, 33:18, 34:9, 47:11, 96:4, 103:11, 103:13, 111:10, 112:1, 115:13.

Matthew 10:28

Luke 1:50, 12:5

1 Peter 2:17

and lots of other places too.

For me, it's because all the christians I ever met kept saying stuff about good, god-fearing people, and everyone else being evil. As for why I wasn't supposed to do certain things (like find out about other religious belief systems or spend my money on things that I wanted or needed instead of giving it to the church) I was told that I'd go to hell. Basically, being a christian myself caused me to understand that the reason you accept christianity, as opposed to Islam, Judaism, Pagainism, Shinto, Taoism, Zen, and others, is because you're afraid of Hell. You've been taught that going against christianity will result in going to hell. If you had been raised in a religion that didn't have a hell, you wouldn't believe in hell.

They don't but when fanatic Christians tell them they shall burn in hell if they don't believe in Christ,it's a fair conclusion that Christians must believe in it themselves.By the way,all religions also provide an escape route or a safety valve for the fears of unknown to a believer and getting spared from a hell and fire is not a minor comfort.

Every time I provide an Atheists point of view, Christians & Muslims fundamentalists are quick to mention that I will be going to Hell where there is eternal pain.

None of the religious people (Christians & Muslims) ever give an answer to state how to leave peacefully in the religion but always create fear that "If I am not so and so ... then I will go straight to HELL"

Hence religion is always equated to FUD especially of Hell by Atheists and Agnostics.

I do have faith in God, yet i'm some distance from great non secular. i become raised Catholic yet I even have my own ideals to boot. for my area, the God that i think in might in no way punish a individual who has lived a solid existence, and been stable to others because of the fact they don't have faith in God. How does that make experience? there are various different religions as properly Christianity. Do all those human beings pass to "Hell" NO! not in my concepts! i think of this is small minded and actually, UN-CHRISTIANLIKE to have faith that way.

The truth is that the teaching of "eternal torment" stems from a false interpretation of Scripture. This is the lie that has done more damage to the Christian religion than any other. It is a total misrepresentation of God. Is it any wonder that there are so many atheists? I myself would not want to serve such a God. Be assured that the God of Jesus Christ teaches no such thing as "eternal torment" for the unsaved. In fact, there is no eternal hell for Satan and his angels. They will be destroyed completely at the hand of the most violent of the nations who will turn on them in the day of executive judgment! Read it for yourself in Ezekiel 28:1-19.

"Evil shall slay the wicked." Psalm 34:21.

Well... it is a primative (but effective) form of carrot-and-stick psychological manipulation, and a key component of christianity... but it really gets a lot more complicated than that. If you are truly interested in understanding this, you can gain some deep insight into the matter here... http://www.christianitymeme.org/

It might be useful if you first made an effort to understand what a 'meme' is (rhymes with 'dream'). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meme

Probably for the same reason that there are so many Christians who believe that Atheists don't believe in God because they "don't want any consequences for their actions"...

You can disguise it however you want, but that's what it boils down to. As a child, your parents taught you to either believe in Jesus or spend an eternity in a fiery pit of death. Your parents mentally abused you to indoctrinate you into their religion. To say "believe my religion or burn in hell" is incredibly selfish, arrogant, and evil.
