There are many ways.I will give some examples:
1 more people more cars more emissions of gas.
2.More people more land needed for agricultural production therefore forests are cleared. this will result in soil erosion ,soil washed down the rivers will end up in the mouth of the river mangrove swamps which will disturb breeding places for marine life.
3 To boost agriculture production to meet the ever growing demand pesticides and herbicides are used indiscriminately
this will also pollute the land and rivers.
4. more people increase demand for consumer goods resulting in more processing of goods in factories therefore more air pollution from emissions.

Two words.

Human Waste.

Humans use resources that are pre-packaged and where does all the wrapping go? In the trash can, into the landfills then into the soil where it eventually goes into our water supply. Also human body waste that goes into a septic system and some of it gets into our rivers and its just a huge polluting mess.
