A girl I know, she is a student about 20, tells me that she has landed a part time job at a club, chucking out drunks! I don't think she is kidding. Is this a proper job for a lady of refinement? I can't imagine any of Jane Austen's characters doing it!

Even girls and women of refinement need to put bread on the table and pay the bills. What she does for a living shouldn't necessarily weigh on whether or not you consider her refined--especially if you'd have thought her so before she told you what she did for work.

I use to work in a club as a bouncer and I can tell you I won't want my gf up there doing it. Most girls that are "beer tub" girls are usually in a bikini and flirt for their tips. On the other hand the money is insane. On New Year's Eve alone, a beer tub girl can make $800. I guess it depends on the type of club and what the girl does and how she acts when she does work.

It's a great job, everyone shoujld have jobs they are not suited for, not only helps one grow but it may open her perceptions to a wider world.
She will still be a lady of refinement, it is not going to ruin her.
And it is not a career, nor the end of the world.
Would you rahter she draw unemployment?

As long as theres a gorilla in a suit nearby she can sic on them if they get nasty, I think it's fine - a lot of people are less likely to kick up a fuss if a woman asks them nicely to leave, than if the aforementioned gorilla tries it, which means a quiet night for everyone.
Sc$%w Jane Austin's characters- who wants to be a clever-clever over-priveliged sexually fustrated titterer hailing from a rose tinted England that never really existed?...

I was a bartender and had to kick drunks out of the bar, its pretty easy you can ask them to leave, or let them know your going to get the police and they can do it. Its a job who cares what she does as long as she is earning a living. If she wasn't working you would be saying she was a dead beat.
