He's living with me right now, and he's my best friend in the world. He can't afford the insurance at this moment, but I don't want him to suffer. He won't quite admit to it, but I know he doesn't have the best self esteem. I've already helped him out with style tips, but I know that having a good smile would do wonders for him.

he can still have it done. he can check out a dental school. they do stuff pretty cheap. or, he can ask the doc about a payment plan. he'll have to come up with a down payment of sorts but it can be done.

This is easy, go to an orthodontist and have him pay up. It is'nt that expensive. They generally want $ 1000.00 down to start and then depending on how many months he needs to wear the brackets, the payment gets split up inot monthly equal amounts. Braces usually cost anywhere from $ 4500.00 and up.

Have him put it on a credit card, or ask a family member for help. I know it is your friend, but you have your own expenses, you can't make this your problem. I wish you luck!

Dental school will do it cheaper if you apply and get lucky.

Even with dental insurance they end up paying only 1500 or so. You will end up paying 2-5,000 out of pocket.
