I have a Canon S3 IS and I want to take pictures at an indoor concert.

I usually use the manual mode - but if I need to do shoot sequential shoot in a short period of time, I'd probably pick either Program, or Av/shutter priority (set in the largest aperture/smallest f number).

I would also set my ISO as high as it can be (in my case, 800 because any higher it would be too noisy, I'm using an EOS 400D and 300D. You probably want to use something lower to reduce the noise - probably 400 or so), except if they're using a lot of light then I can use the stage light for my own benefit.

I would forget the flash because at a distance, the flash would be out of reach.

It depends on the setting if the concert is at night I would choose a night sport setting if your camera has it. It will make the things show up more and the sports feature is capable of capturing all the movement with the least blur.

First, check the back of your ticket. If it says "NO CAMERAS ALLOWED" and you get caught with yours it will be confiscated and you may never see it again. Bye bye camera.

Use Shutter Preferred (Tv) mode, turn flash off, use manual focusing. Set your ISO to 1600 and try a shutter speed of 1/15 sec.and if there isn't enough aperture go to ISO 3200.
