Military is a good choice for someone who does not have direction, it give them the opportunity to realize what they want to do, I think the Air force would be better than the Army for your Daughter. I am in the Army and I would not want my daughters joining

It probably would be a good opportunity for her. Even though it's the Air Force (no offense to the airmen out there) which is the easiest service to get along in. They still instill a sense of discipline and duty.
However, judging by what you said about your daughter, she doesn't sound like the type that would want to go the military route. And you can't really force her to join

It would be a good career. My wife is retired from the Air Force. She enlisted in 1970 when it was taboo for a woman to be in the military. The Air Force is the best branch of the military. My daughter is in the Army and is serving in Iraq, so that wasn't a good choice. We only had to move 3 times in 21 years so it provides stability.

That's so sweet, but guess what? The Air Force probably doesn't want her slack @ss either. The Air Force has the highest aptitude requirements for entrants, and that means things like math and science and technologies like mechanics and electronics. While they can teach you the latter, they aren't miracle workers. If your daughter has been a total slackard, she may not get a high enough grade to get in.
Consider the Navy or Coast Guard as a backup plans. Skip the Marines and Army, since people like to shoot at them.

She's a teenager, that's what they do. As far as joining the Air Force, it may be a good idea, but only if she's not forced to join. I was in for five years and it was a wonderfull experience (I suppose my experience can be related to both sexes), but I did run into some people that didn't want to be there and there parents convinced them to join and they were miserable.

As a TSgt in the Air Force, I just want to say that I have two children of my own. I don't want to raise yours as well. I love every day I go to work because I have brilliant dedicated young men & women who work for me. I have no use for an immature slack @ss who lacks serious drive. Sorry Mom, but it sounds like you haven't done your job as a parent so you're looking for someone else to do it for you.

I think it's a great idea and would be good for her. (My best friend joined shortly after high school and I moved in w/ her, where she was stationed.) However, I know at that age I wanted to do total opposite of what my parents wanted so don't count on her listening.

Snip:
"I think she's immature and lacks a serious drive."
I don't know.... sounds like your teaching process broke down somewhere along the line. Like maybe you don't have much influence in her life anymore.
I don't think it's unhealthy for her to be interested in boys at the age of 16. Most girls that age are. I remember what my sisters where like at that age. Drove our mother crazy.
Two years from now she could have goals that will go far beyond what you expected for her.
I wouldn't try to have to much influence on her future life. Spend your time teaching her what she needs to know so SHE will make the right decision for her future. Then support her as much as you can.

No, Forcing her to join would be horrible, and Illegal. Now yes, the Military offers Structure, Education, Technical Skills, and will make Her more Mature, but that is a decision she will have to make.

An excellent decision. But why wait? There are plenty of military academies that would benefit her right now.
