Yes... why should I pay for you? If we all went on the dole then you would starve because there would be nobody to pay for you to eat, or for your home etc.
Get a job... you will feel more self fulfilled... you will feel that you have achieved something and my money can go towards more needy people than you!
If you continue to live on the dole, you will stay in exactly the same place as you are now... you will never progress, you will never achieve anything, you will never work towards anything...
I work hard and whilst I wish I didn't have to get up at 7.30am every morning, I am glad when I can pay my mortgage, buy a car without having to get credit and go on holiday once a year.... I would rather be in my position than yours! Just know that in 10 years time when you're still claiming your benefits, I will be in a far better place than I am now!

Depends on how you look at it.
Do I wish I had more free time to enjoy the things I want to do instead of rushing around trying to cram them into the weekend?! Yes, of course I do!
Am I pleased that I'm not a benefit, take only, give nothing back scrounger looking to coast through live doing as little as possible so long as that money turns up in my bank every fortnight?! You bet your ****!
I wouldn't work if I didn't have to but short of a lottery win, that's not going to happen but hey, I'm pleased that 20% of my hard earnt money can be taken away in taxes to pay for layabouts like you to enjoy life on the dole without feeling a pang of guilt that I and my family are missing out so you can do nothing with your life.

It might be fine for some to be on the dole for a while, but those who dont really want to do anything with their lives, will feel great for a while, but what when the boredom starts kicking in, what about personal achievements. I wouldnt be happy to sit and stew for the rest of my life. I CANT work, i would love to, but at least i have a hobby that helps me to achieve my personal aims, and gives my brain a daily work-out instead of just stagnating, and getting more lethargic day by day. You say you are enjoying freedom, but when you run short of money and get more into debt or just exist on a shoestring, well, that freedom will become less and less because you cant afford to do all the things you want to do now. Freedom will actually cost money, but you wont get that off the dole.

I can see where you are coming from. After working for 40 years, it is marvellous not to have to go anymore, and the money fairy still puts something into my bank account once a month to enable me to eat
I have wonderful memories to look back on, too - people I met, responsibilities and status I had, knowledge I acquired and things I did when I was a working gal. Of course there were also the other perks, like having enough money to holiday all over the World during those 40 years, having the freedom to be able to pay for the little extras which enabled my kids to have a more rounded education and to give them experiences of life which they will never forget.
So now, I can try to pass on some of that knowledge and experience to other people through sites like YA and Friends Reunited without the pressure of chasing a career.
I'm definitely, "giving it a go"!

Hi, as a person who has helped long termed unemployed people back to work for the last 21 years, I am confident that this is a front or just being controversial.
it is common for people to say they are happy living on nothing when they are terrified to give up the security of guaranteed rent payments and a steady, if small, income. When you have money to buy clothes, go on holidays, buy presents for loved ones on special occasions you will feel so much better. Then there's wanting to buy a house or car - in fact anything you want. You cant do it on benefits.
Could I suggest you speak to your local Jobcentre or LDC about motivation and confidence courses. If you were in Glasgow I could recommend several groups would could help you to achieve a job goal where you would be happier than on benefits.

It is completely wrong. You are behaving like a parasite. I cannot believe that there seem to actually be people on here who support this viewpoint. I endorse everything that the people on here are saying that condemn you for enjoying life on the Dole. You obviously have no self-esteem, no pride, no shame. Sadly you are not the only one: I actually work in a Jobcentre, and see dozens like you every week. You are very lucky that you live in a country with a welfare state, so your idleness can be supported by the hard working majority. Imagine if you lived in a country without one, where not having a job wouldn't mean enjoying life without the pressure of chasing a career, but facing the very real pressure of needing to find some work, any work, in order to feed, clothe, and house yourself.
So sort yourself out. NOW. And GET A JOB AND GET A LIFE.

Well, if you have no aspirations in life, the dole's ideal. If you don't work, you'll never have somewhere nice to live, be able to go on long holidays, drive a car that isn't a banger and be able to afford own nice things.

Usually if you're on the DOLE you MUST be available to work.
Which means your case worker has every right to ask you - please send me all copies of letters you have sent in the last 3 months applying for jobs. If you dont have anything to show the worker, you can be denied your benefits.
I hope you DO LOSE your Dole.

As far as I am concerned, it is not that bad to take a break and enjoy a couple of lifetimes doing nothing much, but then...
what do you do for the rest of eternity?, it gets boring after a while!! So dont make it a have it.
