Hi Nikki!

I suggest that you first watch your daughter play OR take a nap with a blanket, just to see if she is able to remove the blanket from her face.

My son is only 6-months, but when I am watching him play with a blanket or burp cloth he gets frustrated when he can't take it off his face. This helps me to know that he is not ready to sleep with a blankie yet.

So first pay attention, then make your decision from there.

If it's a thin blanket you're definitely OK. My oldest didn't even want a blanket at that age - he was closer to 18 mos. or even a bit older before he wanted one.

Just keep an eye on how she sleeps - if she tends to get wrapped up (is she a big mover?) I would make sure the blanket is a thin one, at least to get her used to it since it's not cold yet.

My 4 year old was born during a 3 foot blizzard, so she has slept with a blanket her entire life! It's personal preference on your part, if you are comfy with her sleeping with one, then let her. Just be sure not to make it one blanket in particular, or she should get attached to it. I always imagine that kid from Charlie Brown when I think of kids and blankies! Good Luck!

I would think about what kind of sleeper she is. Does she move around a lot? If so, the blanket won't stay anyway.
My son is also one, he sleeps with a little blankie that is his "lovey", but it's only about the size of a dishtowel. Otherwise, I just put him in warm pajamas.

My son always had a blanket. He wouldn't go to sleep as a baby unless he was wrapped up in a blanket. Don't you think your daughter would get cold without a blanket? I never heard not to put your baby to bed with out a blanket. I have four kids and they all liked to be wrapped up tight.

My son has been sleeping with a light blanket since he was 5 months old. He's never had any problems.

My son sleeps with a blankie.... he's 14 months and has done so for a while now. As long as they move around enough in their sleep, and know to swat things away from their faces they'll be fine.

As soon as they're old enough to pick up their head, it's okay. Human instinct is to get out from what's suffocating you- as long as they have that ability, they'll be fine.
