I have been working at the same co. for about a year now, my job is to learn all the depts. so if someone calls in sick or vacation I can replace them temporarly. I am now in a new dept. ( again ) and found out that a co worker is spredding rumors about, like wrecking machines, making bad parts so on and forth. I had talked to him about it, and yet he dinies it. I know for a fact that he is doing it because of others telling me this info. I would feel like a "rat" if I went to the boss about this. Any other ideas ?????? I dont want to "get even" with him and jepordise my job.

More than one person has told me that this person is spreding rumors, and none of them have anything to "gain" by telling me these things.

Some gossip mongers create the rumors to spread discord .
Just because someone told you that , does not mean it is true .
Ask a 3rd person . If he IS doing that , someone else would have heard it also .

If someone else confirms the rumor , tell buttt head you Know he is a liar & a skank .
Ask if he was born a biitch or if it happened later in life .

If no one else has heard it and . . .
Since the person has denied it , invite each of them to coffee at break and then say ,
" Hi Bob ( person who told you ) , Hi Jim ( reported rumor person ) ,
Bob here says you are telling bogus stories about me , Why don't you two have a conference and decide what REAL is . Let me know later " .

Then , get up , walk away and leave them sitting there .
