Yesterday my husband took our dogs for a walk in the local woods. There are huge signs that says 'No Cycling, allowed'. Anyway you can walk right around a huge lake and on the way our dogs were let off their leashes. They are good dogs, friendly with everybody and friendly with dogs that also walk unleashed. My husband was stopped in the path by a jogger who asked him if he could stroke our dogs. Our dogs at the time was lying resting by my hubbies feet. A man and a young girl came past on bicycles [Prohibeted] the man shouted at my hubby told him to get his dogs under control and can't they find a better place to stand and talk. They the cyclist were on mountain bikes and road past on the grass , the man still shouting at my husband who by then had told him the they are not allowed cycling there. Now i have discovered that these people live about 3 houses away from us. What would your reaction have been?.

Sounds like both of them were breaking the rules. There are leash laws. It is also prohibited to let a dog off leash whether it is a good dog or not. Keep the dogs on the leash or don't complain about other people breaking the rules too.

well if your town has a leash ordinance (which most of them do) then not only were they in the wrong but so was your husband. you just need to learn to ignore people and not let them bother you. if the people still give you problems about this and your community does not have a leash ordinance then get a copy of the no bicycling rules or take a picture of the no cycling sign on the trail and tape it to their door.

You should never have your dogs off a leash in public, you are both as bad as each other. But lets face it, this is a very trivial matter. Hardly worth your time asking it.

my guess would be that there are also rules about dogs being leashed.

there may be disagreements about where cycles are allowed also. you need to get a meeting with these people and work it out.
invite them over to talk about the situation and try to make an agreement to stop the escalation of this problematic situation.

Let it go luv,it's not worth a war especially with neighbours...I'm not a dog person and i dislike other people's dogs on the loose..If you have to have dealings with them over this, just remind them that they were breaking rules and not your husband.....

People are rude.

It's not worth getting into a major war with your neighbor. Just let it go. He's an idiot who is teaching his children to disobey rules and to be rude to people around him.

This is typical of our society. I'd just let it go and be different than him... other people see he's a creep.

Report them to the Forestry Commission that deals with that area and give their address.
