Fortunately you don't need to get rid of your cat.

Good restoration companies will be able to match a colour for you and send you details of how to do the repair. (we do these all the time). The other product for surface scratches is called Easy colour which will cover any slight scratching that you have.

It is important to get a colour mixed as if you use a premixed colour from the internet it will nto match and will make the damage look 10 times worse.

If you are in the Uk give us a call and we can help. We can also supply qualified technicians in your area if you would prefer someone to do it for you.

I have no idea if about a spray for furniture but with my cats when I don't want them to do anything I keep a spray bottle full of water and when they scratch or get on something I don't want them on I spray them with the water and after a few times of being sprayed them learn not to do that. It really did work with my cats. They haven't scratched my furniture in over 6 months and it only took them being sprayed about four times. Cats can have learned behavior just like any other pet you just have to be persistant. I hope I helped.

Thankfully leather can be repaired, its what has paid my bills for the last 11yrs ;-)
Cat scratches are one of the most common things we do ( insert lots of cursing here) they can be very time consuming to repair properly and long lasting. Please be very careful with the "as seen on tv" repair kits- they are mainly vinyl repair kits masquerading as leather repair and dont last well.
There are several different kinds of cat scratches- if you just have the little flaps from "plucking" you can take a needle and lift them all out ( some get pushed in by the claw), put a little elmers wood glue on the back side of the flap and seat them down. If there is alot of shredding you really need a custom matched repair kit. "Better" repair products companys like mine will have you send a sample so we can match the color and create the appropriate kit specifically for your type of leather ( there are litterally hundreds of leather types and color effects)
Hopefully its just the little flaps and what I said will resolve it for you.
To prevent more take some cayenne, paprika, etc and rub in scratching areas- stops the kitties real quick.

I have a leather couch too and three cats and it's perfect.

I used a water bottle to train them but you can't always be there I know. They have "kitty guards" that you can put on the sides of your furniture until your kitty is trained. also ( I don't know what this would do to the leather though) kitties don't like the smell of lemon! spray some lemony stuff where you don't want kitty to play

I have one leather couch that holds up to a crazy lab and running cats, and has never scratched. I have another leather couch that scratches from almost anything touching it, plus my dork cat has sharpened her claws on it. If you want to cover the scratches, try shoe polish and leather conditioner. It won't get completely back to normal, but it can help.

have you ever heard of liquid leather? I think it might be available in stores as well as online. It looks like paint. You put it on the laceration on the couch and it goes over it and dries and it's real leather. You can't even tell it was scratched.

You don't have to get rid of the kitty, but it should be trained not to tear up your couch. I know lots of people who have been successful with squirt guns. Not Super Soakers, now, just a cheap squirt gun when they look like they're gonna scratch the couch. I have tried the liquid leather they sell in stores, and i doesn't work so well. Try a professional.

Unfortunately, damage to leather furniture can't be repaired, per se. But if you call a furniture repairman they can make it look better.

I put double-sided tape on the areas of furniture my kitties are tempted to scratch. Cats don't like sticky stuff on their paws, so they avoid it.

I wish I could help you because the same thing happened to me awhile back! I had the big couch, a love seat and the chair, all black leather! After awhile, I threw them all out and I kept my cats!! No more leather!!
