how many of you are highly religous? How many of you are ethical shoppers or does cost win over ethics.

I guess what I'm trying to say is it about time that we stopped trying to raise money to feed the world and started boycoting products from certain countries in hopes that it will lead to better work conditions and pay? So that they may get themselves out of poverty.

If we boycott they will get better pay because large corporations would be loosing money and they'd make changes because it would benefit them to do so,

By buying american rice you are effecting the work and living standards of rice growers in africa. If you boycott that then the rice farmers of ghana would get a fair price for hard work

By buying local products you are creating local markets keeping and this would ring true in africa, as the world stands now africa is very rich in resources and it suits the west to keep it poor so that we can get these resources cheaper. In africa there is growning support for bin laden and if something is not done to address the issues I fear more terroists will be born

Religion is a poor predictor of morality.

It would be more productive if people actually thought about what is right and wrong instead of just following old lists of rules. It is only when we realize the pros and cons of human nature and start really identifying with those around us that we'll start acting more ethically. Religion, if anything, promotes an "us versus them" mentality.

i'm a vegan and an atheist; i do no longer see a connection between the two and that i do no longer see atheism as a 'non secular pathway'. Edit** i think of it rather is thrilling that a lot of human beings anticipate veg*ns would be non secular or shop on with a non secular course. . this question comes up sometimes, however the question of politics does no longer. i'm a passionately political individual with a lifelong background of political activism and dedication (and no, i'm no longer speaking approximately AR activism). My checklist of human rights activism surely does no longer make me an 'empty' something, however being stated as an empty soul would not hardship me - i'm an atheist after all, we don't have self assurance in souls. i'm curious with regard to the actual, the right here and now, somewhat than spirituality.

How can they get better pay if there is no demand for their product? You cannot pay people more to make the product, than what the product is actually worth on the open market.
