Dont just send resumes, but get out there and visit the places you sent the resumes to. As a secretary, I got tons of resumes over the fax and in the mail when we had a position at our company open. I gave them to my boss and he made a stack. But if someone happened to come by, he interviewed them right then and they usually stood out from the others. If they came by he figured they were really serious. Then if you go by, call back and let them know you are still interested. Keep calling and going by.

My sister just had this problem. She was using sites like careerbuilder.com, monster.com, and Y! hotjobs. to apply to TONS of jobs with little results. She decided that instead of applying through those, she would use them to look for jobs, but then send her resume directly to the company by looking up their address or fax number online. I think that companies get so many applications via those sites that they dont look thru them in a timely manner. As soon as she started physically sending them out, she got soooo many responses. Hope this helps, good luck!

If you are getting a few calls when you send out 50 resumes, you're probably getting a pretty good response.
There are more and more people chasing fewer and fewer "good" jobs.
Good luck.

Yeah and how awful it is....the job offers I got were from resumes I'd taken over in person and I even sent one next day delivery from the post office....

And just WHAT skills do you have? There is no way I can answer this question if I don't know what you have to market to a prospective employer.
