My most memorable flea market vendors were the ones that seemed really into what they had and arranged "collections". It's easy to get overwhelmed when vendors "puke" their wares all over the tables. I'm always drawn to the displays that arranged by color, size, era, etc. (how the stuff is displayed depends on what you're offering...) Shopping isn't just about the stuff you get, it's also about the EXPERIENCE. Be friendly, but not pushy. They'll be happy to pay what you ask... make them want to take home a souvenir of the experience they had with you. Of course, that's for the more casual shopper. I suspect collectors need a different kind of handling. Have fun!

Have a good product. Location, Location, Location, even though your at a flea market, placement of your booth makes all the difference, advertise with banners and don't be afraid to ask people to do business with you. Its all a numbers game, talk to enough customers you will sell. happy selling.

Make sure your sales items are clean and arranged nicely.
Don't hover over me.
Check to see that your prices are competitive and clearly marked on the items.
Have a selection of bags to put the sold items into. And paper to wrap things that are fragile.
Be friendly but not grasping. If you know another dealer has what the customer is looking for, refer them.
Your appearance is important. Take a shower, wash your hair, clean your nails, and for God's sake (if you are male), pull up your pants. There is nothing that turns me off quicker than a man reaching down for a bag showing me the "plumber's view."

At all the flea markets I've been to, the dealers are toothless, and don't bother to bathe on a regular basis, and they jack up the price on everything. Also, having clean items for sale isn't a top priority.

If you see someone looking through one type of item, such as large size blouses, show them others in that size. Or if they are looking at mystery novels, point out others that you read and liked. Be friendly. When they pick up something, tell them the reasons they should love that. (For example, oh that bedspread belonged to my grandmother. She said it washes so well and always looked beautiful on her bed.). Give them the best selling points of the item they are holding. Tell them why it may be a really good price, "That's genuine leather" or "My mom paid over $35 dollars for that blouse at a designer boutique in the mall." etc. Don't lie, but sell your items using what you know. If the item has no real "selling points", then say, "That vase would be beautiful with some calla lillies in it, like in a bathroom or bedroom. My friend fixed up one like that." etc. etc.

keep having good stuuf to sell and the buyers will come back.-- that is the basis of all successful businesses. and each is consequently a master salesman. It is NOT what your position designates you as--- it is WHAT YOU DO!

Don't hound the customer or push your sales, thats so annoying. When they do that I just walk away. &don't stand over them and look at everything with them unless they ask.
Be nice and funny. That always helps. Also have the products that people want&need.
