how are they peeing and pooping all over the house if they are only allowed in the living room? You need to really really clean all the places they have gone, as they consider this to be their toilet area, and will continue going there as long as it smells like that. Then, someone needs to take them outside several times a day to go to the bathroom, and stay out there with them until they go. When no one is able to watch them, they should stay in crates.

It sounds like the two dogs need a little brush up on potty training. Are they being left alone for long periods of time? Perhaps they're not able to hold their bladders for that long.. One good way to try to potty train them is to get those puppy pads (you can get them at almost any pet store) the pads at least lure the animal to them because they are scented. The animals will then "do their thing" on those. Over a period of time, the pads are moved closer and closer to the door until the animal begins to realize that he or she needs to go outside to do their business.

Another option is a kennel. Most dogs wont make a mess in their kennel if the kennel isn't huge. They don't like to lay in it. Maybe he can introduce both of them to their own kennels to teach them not to use the bathroom in the house.

First of all, it is horrible for you to say that. Second of all, the dogs are 13 years old and STILL arent housebroken? Or are they doing this recently because of old age? Either invest in a book about housebreaking, or take them to the vet!

At 13 yrs I would suggest that it is a medical issue.. if it didn't happen when they were younger..

Hope you and your "boyfriend" never breed. You seem both so pathetic that it hurts.
Pity the poor dogs!
