only directly on your skin.
they are really thin and can penetrate through jumpers and t-shirts, nasty buggers.

Fleas can live in any type of fabric for around 3 months without eating anything, the best thing to do if you have a problem with fleas is to frontline any animals, spray all carpets with a suitable flea spray and wash all animal bedding and clothing which you think your animals may have been near. Frontlining your animals each month will prevent you from another outbreak of fleas. Good Luck!

they have to get on your skin. You need to have your boyfriend pick up some frontline or advantix for the dog, treat the house and yard, and wash all the throw rugs, doggy bedding, etc.

I know they can live in carpets, so they may be able to live in clothing too, but I'm sure they have to land direct on the skin to bite.

If there are fleas in the vicinity -They are going to crawl under clothing and bite !
