He was a blacksmith. He was cast out of heaven for making a joke about God's unborn son.
Something about nails he'd just made.

Like 1st mate spammy said, Lucifer was a title applied to the King of Babylon. Isaiah 14:1-14 shows that the addressee was the King of Babylon, who would lose his high position as world ruler for becoming too proud w/o acknowledging God.

This title was erroneously applied to Satan the Devil.
The name/title/position he held before being cast out is unknown, but we do well to keep in mind that it was obviously of some importance, just as all of the angels in heaven.

Jesus Christ (the Word, Michael the Archangel) was/is the most powerful of all God's creations; so the angel that later became Satan would have been one of his subordinates.

God is pretty good at erasing people from history when he wants to, and part of that is letting their names be forgotten. Example: Do you really think Nimrod ("hunter") was really Nimrod's name?

All the angelic names in the Bible (Jehovah "He causes to Become; Michael "Who is Like God", Gabriel "Master, who is of God", Abaddon "Destruction") are Hebrew/Aramaic names. Lucifer comes from Latin words meaning 'Light Bearer'. The original Hebrew wording refers to pagan god's - "Helel (bright one) son of Shachar (dawn)". This was translated as Bright one, son of the dawn/morning. Don't you think that if this really were his name before he became Satan there would be some sort of reference to God's glory?

There is no angel named Lucifer in the Bible. The word appears once, in Isaiah, and it is a taunt in a letter to Nebuchadnezzar.

Satan in the Old Testament is one of God's servants. His job is to test men at God's direction, and to present cases against them if need be.

Satan in the New Testament was reworked into the Devil, a bad guy. The authors of the NT seem to have been guided more by Jewish folklore than scripture. Also, the authors were clearly not much in the way of Hebrew scholars.

to JESUS M

Then God almighty decided that Michael that betray him fought against the devil in Revelation 12:7, interesting twisting of the scripture... what else did you learn with your church that is wrong?

Satan was a Cherubim (Ezekiel 28:11) existed before the creation (Job 1:6, 2:1 and 38:4-7)

Lucifer doesn't exist, past or present. It is a misinterpreted translation from hebrew to greek of the words for 'morning star'. It refers to a king of babylon. How the early christians distorted this meaning into a nom-de-plume for satan or the devil is a mystery for the ages.

And for the record...the satan never rebelled against God as it is incapable of doing so. The satan simply performs the mission that God created it to do, namely, to test humanity with sin so that each person can exercise his free will correctly.

before the name "lucifer" was co-opted by Christians, Lucifer was the Etruscan sun god (beofe Christianity existed).

With pagan holdovers in medieval Italy, Lucifer was a a particular target for demonization by the Church, as it didn't look good for the old ways to linger on in the very heatland of the papacy,

later, an entire mythology emerged about his "fall" which was inconveniently not a part of the bible (because it was created after).

The word of God tells us he was "the anointed cherub who covers". He was very beautiful to behold and directed the praise of heaven toward God
He was music..he orchestrated the praise..but he got jealous and wanted that praise for himself. That's when he changed from Lucifer...to Satan...and was cast out of heaven for treason.
Part of the reason worldly music can be used for such evil things now, has to do with the satanic influence upon it.

He was a guardian cherub and reffered to as an angel of light.
"You were anointed as a guardian cherub, for so I ordained you. You were on the holy mount of God...Your heart became proud on account of your beauty, and you corrupted your wisdom because of your splendor. So I threw you to the earth; I made a spectacle of you before kings."
Ezekiel 28
