Yes. Catholics are Christians, since they are followers of Jesus Christ.

The confusion happens because there is a certain group of people called "fundamentalists." They would like the world to think that they are the only ones worthy of being called Christian.

They are wrong. In fact, not only is the Catholic Church a Christian church, it is the first and original Church, established by Jesus Himself. All other denominations are man-made.

Seems like the Protestants don't know where the word Christian originated from.

Evodius was the first Bishop of Antioch, and he is credited with being the first person to call the followers of Christ, "Christians", as shown in Acts 11:26. See Eusebius, book 3, chapter 22.
Bishop as in Pope.

Saint Ignatius (35-107),
the second Bishop of Antioch wrote a letter to the Smyrneans in 107 A.D..
In this letter is recorded the first known use of the words "Catholic Church"...
Paragraph #8
"You must all follow the lead of the bishop, as Jesus Christ followed that of the Father; follow the presbytery as you would the Apostles; reverence the deacons as you would God's commandment. Let no one do anything touching the Church, apart from the bishop. Let that celebration of the Eucharist be considered valid which is held under the bishop or anyone to whom he has committed it. Where the bishop appears, there let the people be, just as where Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church. It is not permitted without authorization from the bishop either to baptize or to hold an agape; but whatever he approves is also pleasing to God. Thus everything you do will be proof against danger and valid."

Yes. Every religion that believes in Jesus believes the same basic view points of how he died on the cross and that you have to accept him into your heart, even Catholics. The only differences between Catholics and some other christians sects are Catholics believe in purgatory, pray through Saints, and believe they have to be forgiven by going to a Priest, not just praying directly to God. Everything else is just the same and they will go to the Christian heaven just as much as other Christian faiths, whether Bapist, Protesant, or any of the many others.

Yes, they are. Anyone who believes Jesus was the Messiah who was promised in the Old Testament is a Christian. Many Christians have different beliefs about interpretation of the Bible, which is why there are so many denominations of Christians, including Catholics and Protestants. It's not my place to judge which interpretation is correct -- if any of them are. So, until I go to heaven and learn all about it, I have no place telling you they aren't.

Yes, Catholics are Christians. Catholicism is a denomination of Christianity just like the Baptist, Methodist, Lutheran, or Presbyterian. These are all denominations of Christianity.

A Christian religion is defined as: of, pertaining to, believing in, or belonging to the religion based on the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Catholicism is a religion based on the teachings of Jesus Christ and therefore is a Christian religion. Anyone who tells you differently is highly misinformed.

The Catholic Church is the original Christian Church established by Christ. All other churches claiming Christianity are man made and are in protest of Christ's Church. To learn more of the faith and practice of the Catholic Church read the New Testament which is written by Catholics about faith and practice under the inspiration of the Spirit. You can also learn by reading the Catechism of the Catholic Church available online or attend RCIA classes at your local Catholic Church.

I think a large number of Catholics are, but simple going to mass and doing all the weekly rituals does not make one a Christian. Of the catholics I've known, it seems like a great many get caught up in the rituals of the church, without actually pursing a walk with God outside of weekly mass attendance. Then again, that's only been my own observation.

Christianity means "a follower of Jesus Christ"

If we have to go through every Christian religion with a fine teeth comb we'll discover that every one of them doesn't follow Jesus Christ teachings entirely.

So pointing the finger at Catholics alone is being bias.

The papacy is the oldest Intuition in the world .- How could it survived without the grace of God & the guidance of the Holy Spirit.........The Holy Spirit did not convert to Islam in 610AD or Lutheranism in 1517AD or Calvinism in 1540s AD ...There's no comparisons. ..................The truth is , they Catholics give us the first Bible..the rest of religions intrepid it differently & formed counterfeit religion's groups...which inturn give us supermarket christens;.......pick & choose laws to suit themselves [ cool & new age stuff ] but has nothing to do with the scriptures....

Yes they are. Because they believe in and worship Jesus Christ. That makes them Christians.

I disagree with bored. Paul founded the early Christian church. It was not catholic for quite some time.
