I work in a nursing home, and the family of two of our residents who passed away set up a scholarship for the employees who are attending college. I got one of the scholarships and I am not certain if I should send a "Thank You" or not.

You should absolutely express your appreciation for their having chosen you as the recipient of their very generous scholarship. To neglect to acknowledge the scholarship would be very rude, indeed!

Absolutely! You can never go wrong with a thank you note when it comes to a scholarship. Letting them know how much this means to you will also be encouragement for them to continue the program in the future.

Absolutely, and it should be very heartfelt. You should also keep the contact information of whomever gave you the scholarship so that you can update them on your progress in the future. Later in life, they could be great networking contacts and if you do well in school, they may be able to set you up with a job or internship.

Yes you should. It will help show them that they made the right choice by choosing you for the scholarship. It only takes a few minutes and means alot to the receiver!

Absolutely! It's an award, but also a gift. Sending a thank you note and mentioning what you plan on studying and what you'd like to do with your education shows you are a mature and thoughtful person with wonderful manners.

Yes, you should send a thank you letter now and when you graduate, send a thank you as well to let them know how you've progressed and that you're thinking of them.
