she must be 3 or 4 right? lol. My 4 year old puts band aid all over her, it's cute. I remember last year she put one on her head when she had a head ache, lol. I'm sure the colors have something to do with it, but other then that, it's just something new for them.

I have no idea what the obsession is...but all my 3 year old asked for for her birthday was a "big box of band aids". Well she got more than one box and has had more fun with them than anything else! I believe they are on her Christmas list too. I'm pretty sure Santa will be able to make her Christmas wish come true!
I say enjoy the time when a band aid is all they want. Soon they grow up and it takes much more expensive distractions to make them as happy as a bandaid can now!

Funny you should ask! LOL!! I'm assuming your daughter is really young. My children, 8 and 12 still are obsessed with Band aids! The more colorful, the better!
I think they really like it because it's colorful, it's a great conversation starter because obviously, their friends are gonna ask what happened, and I think it's also a little bit of an attention grabbing tool for them. They remember how their parents made a fuss over their boo-boo, they remember that feeling and want to re-create that feeling of warmth, care and tenderness again and again.

My daughter is 3 1/2 and has had an obession with band aids ever since she was about 2. She not only like to put band aids on her self but everyone else around. If she gets hurt and there is not blood or a scratch she still needs to put a band aid on. She thinks band aids make every thing else better. Its crazy.

Yes, when my son was 3 he developed an obsession with them. He stuck them all over his body and left them on so long that a couple turned into bandaid shaped red blisters (complete with circles where the air holes were) so he had to stop using them altogether. At 6 he occasionally cons one out of the school or stares longingly into the medicine cabinet when I have it open. He would love to get a lightening McQueen one, I am afraid he'll discover character ones one day and end up in band aid re-hab!

Good question! I think it might have to do with the idea that if you can't see it, it doesn't hurt. That includes EVERY boo boo they get. And given they have so many different character band aids to choose from, why not want them all over themselves. Gosh, her dolls must have a boo boo too!

My two girls, ages 3 and 5, have been that same way since the day they DISCOVERED band aids! lol
I always tell them that unless it is bleeding, they don't need one : )
I put a band aid on the first day only [unless it is an open cut that is painful], and after that, I tell them that boo-boo's need AIR to heal, and that it is best to "air them out".
: )
lol
Hope this helps : )
Also: try saying: "Oh, noo...! We ran outof band aids..! I guess we will have to wait until we can buy some more!"
: )
LOL That works, too!
: )

I wish I knew! My 5 year old broke his NAIL today and had to have a band aid on. Of course the band aid kept falling off so we had to replace it...5 mins later he realizes that he has a 'cut' on his knee so we have to put one on there as well.
By the end of the day, his 3 year old brother had joined in and I was down 1 whole box of band aids lol

No clue other than it is something different and no doubt got her lots of attention when she had the actual boo boo. So why not have lots of boo boos and get a ton of attention. And then the fact that you can get hurt (ouch) but it can get better. That is kinda interesting. It's all part of building your knowledge base. My son loves them too-but he is in general fixated on boo boos now and if he thinks of one he did have that is better he will ask "where boo boo go".

Joan R's answer was great, that is my kids in a nutshell. They want the Band Aid and then cry to get it off.
The way I see it, they are not that expensive not even $2.00 at Wal-Mart and if it makes it better why not. In a few more years they will be to cool for Band Aids. Enjoy the times a Band Aid can make them happy.
