My first grader just joined cubscouts last tuesday and we went camping last saturday. Just me and him. And it was so fun! I feel like I joined to because I get to do all the fun field trips and camping with him. Anyone ever did it? Did u like it? Did you have any bad experiences?

Your son and you should participate in all of his activities at that age. At 1st grade, he should be a Tiger Cub and the program calls for direct parental involvement. As he gets older your need to be involved directly will not be as great, but if you are having fun with him now, consider becoming a den leader. There is some formal training to undertake, but it's a good way for you to stay involved.
One of my dad's biggest regrets is that he did not have enough time to be a regular leader with my scout troop when I was a kid. Not so much the Cub Scout period, but definitely he missed the stuff when I got older.
Fortunately, I had really good scoutmasters. In fact I still regularly hike and ski with them and I'm 33. I'm going camping with one of them next weekend. He's 65.

Yes I was a cub scout for a few years and then a boy scout I never made it to eagle scout but it was a lot of fun and I learned so much.But I wish I would have stayed in another 3 years so I could have been a Eagle scout.It looks really good on a resume and it is worth colege credits and it will get you promoted quicker in the Milatary.So if he likes it try to make him stick with it throught the years the experiance and the rewards will be worth it, and it is a good way to keep your kids out of trouble.

I was in boy scouts most of my youth.. earned everything but eagle. some reason i discovered cars and girls and lost interest and the conflict with football practice. the scouts is a great organization, teaches boys lots of things that come in handy in life
