She goes down between 8:30 and 9:00, I am on complete bedrest and so cannot take her outside anymore. Ever since she was little she screamed for up to an hour every night. We tried going in every ten minutes to reassure and just ignoring it, we tried warm glasses of water and I know evil a glass of milk. Nothing worked. So 6 months ago I started singing when she started screaming hence the singing she now does. We have to leave a light on in the bathroom as she is terrified of the dark not sure why as she doesnt watch tv and we have never encouraged it. She takes a nap- she walks in and lays down no complaining, if we leave her bedroom light on she will play till tired and then go to bed with no complaints but I do not like leaving her room light on as I am asleep way before her at night, her room is gated and all doors are deadbolted. What do I need to be doing diff?

Put her light on a timer so it shuts off after she falls asleep. I am concerned that she may be too young to spend so much time unsupervised while you sleep. you need some help.

It sounds like she has what is called "night terrors", either that or she's playing you which they tend to do very well. You need to be firm with her & let her know that this behaviour is not acceptable. You didn't mention her father. Can he not take her out for a walk for some fresh air & exercise before bed? Or, you may need some medical help to get her over this stage. Leaving her unsupervised while you sleep isn't a good idea. What about having a little bit of music playing very softly in her room as she's falling asleep - it could be on a timer. Have you tried giving her some Tempera (I think that's what it's called) at bedtime to calm her & make her sleepy just before bed? You would probably only need to do this a couple of nights until she gets the idea that drifting off to sleep (with just a night light on) isn't so bad after all.

bedtime:
she isn't getting enough action through the day.
can you take her to a kid class or a daycare or playdates or SOMETHING???/ is there a sitter you can hire to take her to the park or just come and play with ehr all day??

my son is 1 and he gets sooo tired and played out during the day at daycare that he goes down without a fuss at about 6:30-7:00. if he's home with us, like weekends, then he stays up a little later b/c i guess we don't keep him quite as busy as he is at school!! :)
but, even then he goes down about 7:30-8:00

i think the key to her bedtime issues are to get tired out.

potty training:
get her nightime pants and have her go potty right before bed. don't give her fluids about 1 hr before bedtime.
get those plastic sheets in case she has accidents.
it will take patience and time, but she'll get it.

take care.
