I met my husband online....myspace of all things!! My husband and I knew all the same people for 10 years but never met eachother...(even my sister knew him). But the instant we met we became instant friends, best friends to married and being mommy and daddy to 2 beautiful boys. The only thing that we wish is that we met 10 years ago... We both met some real "winners" offline before also...just be careful is my advice. Wish you the best...and hope everyone is able to find a relationship as awesome as mine.

I've met several people in real life that I first met online. Experiences were good. My experience has been with groups of people. Only once have I had a one-to-one meeting.
And look at PinkLady's answer. I would never recommend that the ladies meet one-to-one with some guy from the 'net.

I had a good experience meeting someone I first met online, but I think that was because she was the person who fostered one of the cats I adopted from the local shelter.
I wouldn't meet anyone I found at an online dating site unless I was absolutely sure they were telling the truth. And even then I'd take precautions.

Yeah I met my last girlfriend online, she found me on myspace and after talking for a few months we decided to meet up. She lives locally, and we had been talking to each other over webcam as well so we already knew each other when we met in a way. After about a month of hanging out with her and stuff I asked her out, and we went out for another month after that before splitting up - but we are still good friends =]
But yeah sure as long as you dont just jump in to things, you can meet people from the internet in real life and have great friendships and maybe more.

I've never met anyone for the sole purpose of "hooking up", but I have met a few friends from online (a few people from R&S!) and everything was great.
Probably the worst experience I had was when I met this one guy about 7 years ago ... we got along great, and we were becoming really good friends, but apparently I didn't know him as well as I thought, because he committed suicide about 5 months after we met. That was pretty rough.
Why, are you making plans to meet me? Or am I thinking wishfully? ;)

I met one person a number of years ago. I think her goal was to hook up, and though it wasn't an awful experience--she wasn't who she presented herself to be (while I am only too much everything I appear to be). I feel that meeting friends would usually work, but I don't try to actively meet people I know on the Internet.

My boyfriend and I have been together for three years now. We met on October 1st 2004 after chatting online once or twice. Its been a rocky road because I didn't consider the possibility of us both turning out to be shy and anti-social. But, we have always been extremely compatible and are working on our problems through premarital counseling right now. Good luck! ~i truly truly love my boyfriend~

Yeah I have. Actually recently, I met a guy on myspace (i know its corny) but I'm picky about who I talk to online. Anyways, me and the guy hooked up for lunch and went for a stroll in the park. We hit it off really well. Too bad though, he's really busy and so am I these days... But yeah you can have a good experience, you just have to really evaluate them and know some things before you go.

I personally have not, but my sister-in-law met her husband of three years through eHarmony... they are very happy together. An old roomate of mine met a girl from Russia on line. He went to visit her, she ended up moving back to the States with him, they're now happily married and have a child. And... a relative of mine met his current girlfriend online.

Yes He was just as I expected! I can't wait to see him again!! I spoke to him for nearly 2 years before I met him so I had a lot of chance to see if he was some kinda killer or something! heheheh
