Evolution is not a matter of 'belief'. Theories do not create 'facts'. In science, theories occupy a higher level of importance than mere 'facts'... theorise EXPLAIN facts. The 'Theory of Evolution' provides an explanatory framework for the OBSERVED FACT that the genetic makeup of populations of organisms (the 'gene pool') changes, over time. NONE of this is in dispute among REAL scientists.
The main enemies of religion are knowledge and reason... religious belief REPLACES knowledge and reason; therefore, in order for religion to succeed, it is ESSENTIAL that the 'flock' (sheeple) be kept mired in self-delusion and ignorance.
The 'logic' of creationism is an 'appeal to ignorance': "Wahhh... that's too complicated. I can't understand it; therefore, god did it."
Pre-packaged delusions (myths) replace knowledge and reason.

Evolution -- evidence and rationality.
However, I've studied some Chinese religious classics and found that (1) the Earth is square, (2) there is a magical Paradise at the North Pole, and (3) Lieh Tzu could fly. I don't think most modern Taoist believe those literally, especially not the first two -- but the stories and analogies still teach lessons and are meaningful to many people. If Christians could learn to read the Bible that way instead of as a literal history book it would both add depth to there spiritual teachings and end the pointless war with science.

Why is it "or"?
My spiritual beliefs have no problem with Evolution. Then again I am a Deist so not part of any indoctrinating Religion. Until a Scientist comes up with a valid Theory that challenges Evolution and can back his claims up with empirical evidence, I will stick with Evolution as an explanation for advanced life on the planet.

Simple evolution because of the facts, religion doesn't even come close to these facts. I don't buy the argument that mankind was to stupid to understand a biblical chapter on evolution, GOD could have put it in.

So, is either evolution or religion? One cannot believe in both? Evolution is a religion or can be compared to a religion... how...?
OMG... do people even know what the theory of evolution is. . .
Might as well ask, ''Gravity or religion and why?'' ''The world is flat or religion and why?''

Evolution is an established fact supported by mountains of evidence. Religion is a faith-based system completely at odds with reality!

A means of proof to you so you the intelligent ones can see, and those who have been allowed to see know the truth because they have the proof! It was sent as a mercy and guidance to you all.

Evolution is stepping ahead. Religion is stepping backwards.
There is no humane future in religion. No freedom of mind in religion.

Evolution!
Proof is provided with evolution and I have so much disgust with years of how religion treats people and "poisons everything"
