You should be aware that when electric cars become sufficiently popular, they will no longer cost twenty cents to recharge. Electric cars require roads, and these are not free. They're paid for by taxes on gasoline, at present; electric power doesn't have road taxes. But at the point where it becomes necessary, we'll be installing either an energy monitor or an odometer that'll talk to transponders set up by the various state highway departments, and they'll send you a bill. Failure to pay will result in someone paying you a visit to remove your license plates, or the entire vehicle.

If you're referring to one of the electric vehicle models made by Miles Automotive, details are available here:

The Miles Javlon will not be in production until about 2009. It will cost $30,000, have a range of ~120 miles/charge, and a top speed of ~80 mph.

Miles is quite similar to ZAP, which currently has a short-range model slightly better than the Miles models:

And around 2009 will have an electric vehicle (ZAP Alias) which will cost $30,000, have a range of ~100 miles/charge, and a top speed of ~100 mph.

The batteries still have problems which limit range.
