Sadly in war people die whether they are soldiers or civilians. That is life. god has nothing to do with it because there is no god.

David, many times in our lives we experience terrible traumatic events that do shake our faith to it`s core and you certainly did, however I am a great believer in the fact that the flame rarely goes out altogether even if it seems that way.
Inhumanity, discouragement and the experience of such an unstable world all make for great demands on our faith.
I believe too that as you have the inner desire to rekindle your faith that this will happen sooner than later, the only thing I can suggest is that you do not loose hope because it is the one thing that builds a wall so hard to get over that you may never really try to.
Peace be with you always.

Davidt God does not enjoy or instigate war, nor does he go on any side as some have thought in the past but he actually expects his people not to have any part in war you have heard one of the commandmants says thou shalt not kill haven't you it is well known but not well obeyed, therefore as in many other things, how can you blame God for what men do?

David you have to understand, God did not ask or command that war....the president did.

I've never been in war...the closest thing was when I was on my way to a friends house and the car behind us started speeding up and flashing and beeping and was holding a gun out the window...luckily my friends dad had a jeepish car and was able to go quickly in and out of the turns while the other car was long and had to go slower through the turns...

ANYWAY(sorry I got sidetracked) look at the bible...there is war and hate all through out that...then Jesus came along and changed that(until a while later) He preached peace and love which is what you seem to long for...

Go to that if that's what you want.

Friend you were doing your job, Let's see where wars like that in Vietnam comes about, satan put in peoples mind to do certain things to cause a war, No matter what you had to do, God will forgive you, I have never been in the military, But I was one of those that was ready to go & my time frame would have been Vietnam, They just never did call me. But I had 2 brother-in-laws that had to go. I know Vietnam haunts many military people, but stop & think you were at war, & it was you or them. Your thought was to survive. God will forgive you of anything you did back then.

God does not enjoy war, but God has sent many people into battle. The Old Testament will help you here. Ask God to help you do the right thing and that you will ever be in his perfect will. Ask God to not put you in places that may be aganist what he would have you to do.

No. The answers are in the Bible.
It is written that God has no pleasure in the death of the wicked. The sinful nature of man is ultimately what's behind all the misery in this life.\
We are told that in the end, we will have to give an account to Him, and He will judge.
Seriously, about faith- It is written that faith comes by hearing, and hearing, by the word of God. So, to apply this truth to your life, read the word of God, the Bible. Read it carefully and often. You will see a building up of faith if you read with the intent of knowing Him.

You might try reading Richard Dawkin's "The God Delusion" to give you some insights on your question.

"Religion, always the problem, never the solution."
