How to calm a cat in heat
The only way your cat can be calmed is when she either mates or goes out of season. That is why the best way to avoid these uncomfortable periods for you and your cat is to have your female cat spayed. Spayed cats won't come into heat and spaying your cat can save you much trouble in the future. Spaying your cat can also prevent medical problems such as uterine infections or breast cancer.

If your cat is a pedigreed breeder or for some reason you don't wish to spay her, you can take her to vet when she is in heat for hormonal injections or medication. These hormones will stop your cat from coming into estrus.

Female cats can be spayed almost any time from as young as 6 months. It is not advisable to spay your cat while she is in heat, because of complications that may arise.

Be warned - if you do not spay your female cat, she will come into heat several times every season!

Good luck!

You didn't say how long ago she had the litter of 4 kittens. If she is still nursing them, then--NO, a vet won't spay a nursing mother cat. But, if the kittens are weaned (no longer nursing on mom) and her milk supply is dried up, then YES--she CAN be spayed, even if she IS in heat. Check around with a few more vets. You can even have a female who accidental got out and mated spayed and aborted at the same time. It is more costly, but it can be done. Good luck in finding another vet who will "Git-R-Done"!

You didn't say how old the kittens are? A cat will go into heat again within about 3 weeks after weening her kittens, A vet can spay her while in heat, but not if she still has milk.

Well first off if she just had kittens in the past 2-3 weeks. No she is not in heat. She is still bleeding from giving birth.
Yes, if she is honestly in heat she can be fixed. We had our siamese cat fixed and she was in heat, the vet charged us about $15.00 more since she was in heat.

Check a different vet, he/she will have a different answer for you.

Keep her inside after this round of heat until you get her to the vet.

My neighbor has a couple of cats on the farm and they are always wandering off and coming back knocked up. She has to try to give away all the kittens and wonders why the cats are always having kittens. It is because she keeps putting food out and they all come around and eat and mate.

Annoying stuff isn't it! I went through the same. Basically if you can keep the cat away from male cats you can usually reduce the cats agonizing sonic meow. Other then that you just need to wait it out. If I heard her acting up I would just put her in a room by herself with some cold water and food.

you CAN get her spayed while she is in heat. It costs more money and its a bit more dangerous but it can be done...cats go in and out of heat very often. If you wanna wait til she is out then try to book as soon as she finished this cycle.

sorry no comfort for the inheat cat or for her frustrated owners either, there really is nothing you can do but to ride out the "heat wave" until her sanity finally comes back and you can get her spayed,i feel for you tho my cat litterally tore my screen to shreds trying to get out to get a boyfriend,so advice to you keep the windows closed she will go through the screen,i swear they lose thier minds when in heat
