I find it so strange that some of the teachings in the Qur'an and the Bible are SO alike. some are even the same ,though i have only heard of a few passages from the Qur'an... my question is why can't we get along? I'm not saying that you won't get along with us or that we won't get along with you but why do we condemn each other? i don't believe that its because of religion because, as i stated earlier, we are so similar except for some differences in worship and doctrine. I hope I'm not offending anyone and if I do I apologize.

Most Muslims and Christians would love and respect one another, but the extremists on both sides are the problem. The cultures clash over political positions and interferences and somehow God gets dragged in.
If political decisions were left up to the average person, there would be peace among religions AND nationalities. Unfortunately power, money and political positioning get in the way of peace. Just one example is the real reason why we don't get along with Iran. Read this and see why Iran went from looking up to the US, to feeling raped by the US in the mid 50's. The repercussions of our old policies have come back to haunt us, just as the results of what we're doing there now, will indubitably come back to us later too.
Here's a short version of this one example:

Devout followers of either religion will never get along, because each of their respective holy books and beliefs clearly says that anybody not following the religion is evil, will go to hell, should be killed, or whatever. Yes, both the Bible and the Qur'an teach this. As opposed to something like Buddhism, that teaches respect, even for those who don't follow it.
This is aside from all the many, many contradictions that each religion holds over the other. All religions are mutually exclusive (ie. they can't all possibly be true).
The only way to do it is to not have devout followers, but rather loose followers. We're already part way there - we no longer have slavery, and woman now have rights (which contradicts the teachings of the Bible). We just need to retcon the negative parts of the respective religions, which is a big task considering they've been formed over hundreds of years.
Religion doesn't kill people. Devout followers of a religion (extremists) do.
There's 3 choices for ways we can get along:
1) All convert to the same religion. Not likely to work since different groups will interpret the religion differently (hence the reason there are different sects in each religion - prime example, Shi'ite vs Sunni - same religion, different sects, hate each other to death, literally). Plus there's the problem of how to force a religion on people.
2) Relax devotion to each religion. Probably the easiest to implement. Far from a perfect solution, but the most realistic, and best chance for success. People still follow their religions, but ignore the parts about non-followers being evil inherent in most religions. Conversely, be proactive and add teachings into each religion that specifically promotes the respect of those with other/no religion.
3) Remove religion altogether. Probably the best solution, but little chance of success. I'm not saying it's perfect; people will still hate others, there will still be wars, but maybe, just maybe, there won't be so many.

Muslims are different in their beliefs with Christians. However, Muslims believe that Islam the religion is a continuation from Adam till Quran was given to them. However, Muslims and Christians not getting along has nothing to do with their beliefs as both religion has rules for allowing others freedom of choice, including religion.

You are right, we are connected to each other. It's sad that we all can't get along. I have Christian friends, and sometimes they try to brainwash me with their beliefs. I'm Muslim, and not all Muslims are good people either. I think if we all could sit down and discuss about the positive and similarities in both our religions, and also stop trying to 'dominate' everyone else, we could all live in peace.

We can't get along because some of the pathetic representatives of our religion will say idiotic disrespectful & offensive things, like some of the above, & spur hatred & anger.
I have never said "Jesus ISN'T the son of God/God" to a Christian. If the situation arises where I have to say something, I would says "In my religion, we don't believe in the divinity of Christ" or something along those lines.
I would like Christians to show me the same amount of respect as well, "We don't believe in the divinity of your Allah or that the Prophet Muhammad was a messenger" is preferable to "The god (yes lower case g, hes a false god) is a god of hate wanting you to kill for him. "
Do you realise how insulting that is to me?
I have many Christian friends who I get along with extremely well, because they don't shove their beliefs down my throat & I don't do it to them.

I have friends from differing faiths and i do not recall being involved in a dispute regarding religion, that is not based on whether we are religious or not becuase most of us are. We just know how to respect each others beliefs...
I have a feeling some leave their manners behind whilst on this forum, that is all

Similar but not the same. One of them pollutes the truth of the other. Now which one of these two really holds water?

I have nothing against Christians, Jews or Atheists. We are all coming from the same God, in our belief. And forgiving is God's business. I cannot judge anyone with their beliefs or non beliefs.
(Qur'an 2-62) Those who believe (in the Qurán), and those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Christians and the Sabians,- any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness, shall have their reward with their Lord; on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.

the reason we can't get alone is because they believe if we don't believe as they do they should kill us and it's written in the Qur'an...just because some of the Bible is in there ,the message of the book is to kill the enfedails ,The message in the Bible is not for us to do God job as far as judging people and then punishing them too..look into what they believe check this out
