in laws have come back from a holiday and have announced they have bought a plce over there are selling up and going in the next few months.
they are both on long term medication and in their 70`s .
they have not shown the family any paper work or discussed any worries the family my have for them
what would you say and think about it ?

please tell them before they go that they need to get a full medical check as someone i know emigrated over there then had to come back as they couldn't get medical insurance which is something you have to have to live there as he had a minor heart condition years ago

North or South?

South is now in the EU so in terms of sickness there will be better support available.

I would worry about any aged parent not of good health going anywhere abroad - when u r sick you need your family around you.

i think its a great idea the climate is wonderful and the island is friendly and safe. i go there every year for my hols and just hope i am blessed enough to be able to retire to this wonderful island.

I think that they should be allowed to live their own lives and make their own mistakes. You can only voice your concerns to them and make them aware of the practicalities.
