Forgive my bluntness.

I was born and raised Catholic and attended Catholic schools for many years, but things like this were not discussed. Does masturbation fall under the vow of celebasy?

The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches:

2396 Among the sins gravely contrary to chastity are masturbation, fornication, pornography, and homosexual practices.

2352 By masturbation is to be understood the deliberate stimulation of the genital organs in order to derive sexual pleasure. "Both the Magisterium of the Church, in the course of a constant tradition, and the moral sense of the faithful have been in no doubt and have firmly maintained that masturbation is an intrinsically and gravely disordered action." "The deliberate use of the sexual faculty, for whatever reason, outside of marriage is essentially contrary to its purpose." For here sexual pleasure is sought outside of "the sexual relationship which is demanded by the moral order and in which the total meaning of mutual self-giving and human procreation in the context of true love is achieved."
To form an equitable judgment about the subjects' moral responsibility and to guide pastoral action, one must take into account the affective immaturity, force of acquired habit, conditions of anxiety or other psychological or social factors that lessen, if not even reduce to a minimum, moral culpability.

Do Priests Masturbate

Masturbation is considered a very serious sin in general, so no one should be doing it. As far as priests are concerned, not only should they not do it because it is a sin, but also because it goes against their vow of chastity. The three vows are 1) chastity, 2) poverty, 3) obedience. Here's the definition of chastity from a Catholic perspective:

chastity: The virtue that moderates the desire for sexual pleasure according to the principles of faith and right reason. In married people, chastity moderates the desire in conformity with their state of life; in unmarried people who wish to marry, the desire is moderated by abstention until (or unless) they get married; in those who resolve not to marry, the desire is sacrificed entirely.

Chastity and purity, modesty and decency are comparable in that they have the basic meaning of freedom from whatever is lewd or salacious. Yet they also differ. Chastity implies an opposition to the immoral in the sense of lustful or licentious. It suggests refraining from all acts or thoughts that are not in accordance with the Church's teaching about the use of one's reproductive powers. It particularly stresses restraint and an avoidance of anything that might defile or make unclean the soul because the body has not been controlled in the exercise of its most imperious passion. www.catholicreference.net

Jesus wants a pure bride. Satan accepts an impure bride. You decided what kind of bride you will be, and that will determine who you will be eternally married to.

If you masturbate, come to your senses, and give your heart to Jesus and the Virgin Mary. They will lead you out of your darkness. And don t believe the liar s statistics. Many priests and laymen have overcome that temptation and do not masturbate.

If it is shameful to be discovered doing it, imagine how it will be on the day of judgement when all mankind sees everyone else s sins, as Jesus judges each and every one of us one by one, starting with the last and ending with the first. Everyone sees your sins in the end. Do not do anything you don t want to be seen doing.

No.

Masturbation would break a priests vow of celibacy.

Judeo-Christian tradition has taught for thousands of years:
1. Single people should be celibate.
2. Married people should be faithful to each other (adultery is wrong).

The Catholic Church recognizes the power of sex when it teaches, "Sexuality affects all aspects of the human person in the unity of his body and soul."

Chastity means the successful integration of sexuality within the person. A chaste person's body and spirit lives in unity and opposes any behavior that would impair that unity.

Masturbation is contrary to the human dignity of the person, anyone about whom the person has lustful thoughts, and the dignity of human sexuality.

Yes, not all priests are falling in the bad category. As you said there are still a lot of them who are faithful and true oriented till the end. Other religions like Islam for example has a way higher percentages of child sexual abuse and other horrible topics not to talk about in here. I'm proud of being Catholic and will work my best to stay faithful for our savior Jesus Christ! God bless you all.

I believe the priests are bound by the laws as presented in the bible. I remember a section in the great book that went something like " It is better to cast thy dew in the belly of a whore than on a rock" .

No, they are not permitted to.

That doesn't mean they don't.... but that would be down to their own lack of self-control rather than any allowance on the part of the catholic church.
