It's been 4 months and still I'm not pregnant. I've been getting upset thinking the worst...and I'm gonna schedule an appt. just to make sure I don't have a cyst or something. Because I've been having some pain in my stomach and some discharge. Any advice tho so I don't fall from hopes so high all the time or tips?

It takes at least 3 months for your body to adjust after being on the pill (I just realized that I assumed you meant the birth control pill - but, the method isn't that important) - so 4 months isn't really that long. Regardless, it would be a good idea to advise your Doctor that you are trying to get pregnant and have whatever tests need to be done to make sure that you will have no problems conceiving - it would also be a good idea to have your husband see the Doctor for tests, as well. I have two very good friends who had tried to get pregnant for a year before either one decided to see their doctor It turned out that both of them had endometriosis and one friend's husband also had a low sperm count. My friends were both in their mid-thirties, when they decided to start a family and, apparently, had endometriosis for years - if they hadn't been trying to conceive they would probably had never known they had it.

Since then, I have learned a lot about Endometriosis and it is a very common condition for women these days - and it can prevent you, or make it very difficult depending on the degree of the condition, from conceiving if it is not treated. Endometriosis is the presence of endometrium elsewhere than in the lining of the uterus; causes premenstrual pain and dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation). Endometrium is the mucous membrane that lines the uterus; thickens under hormonal control and (if pregnancy does not occur) is shed in menstruation; if pregnancy occurs it is shed along with the placenta at parturition.

But you are so young, just 20 - a good time to make sure there is nothing wrong, or to stop any potential problems in it's tracks. But stress (and worry) is another factor that can hamper any attempts to conceive, because stress has such an impact on our hormonal balance. So, just for your peace of mind, you and your husband should talk to your Doctor, get tested, and when you are told there should be no problems - RELAX and let nature take it's course - and I do mean RELAX! - that is so important, you have no idea.

All the best and Good Luck! (and I will say a prayer that a little one is on his/her way to you and will see you soon!)

It can take up to ayear for a fully fertile couple to fall pregnant so don't worry too much after 4 months. Perhaps consider that your cycle is a different length to what you think, if it is a few days longer or shorter than you think it could throw out your timing.
Make sure you have as much sex as possible, and especially during the week that you're ovulating. Perhaps buy an ovulation kit to make sure.
It also depends on the type of contraception you used, even the pill can effect you for a few months after you've stoped taking it.
Try and relax, because that alone will help you fall pregnant.
Best of luck

Hi Sweetie,
I am a mom of three and have been on and off of various types of birth control since I was a teen. (long ago in a galaxy far far away!!!haha) I am not sure what type of BC you were on, but it can take some time for your body to readjust. If you have been using any hormone method bc, such as the pill, depo-povera etc, your body will need to get used to the idea of running on its own hormones instead of obeying the commands of the ones that were put into it. When I got off of the pill, it only took me a few months to regulate, but with the depo shot it took almost a year to get back to normal ovulation. If you have used an implanted device, such as an IUD, there should be no delay in your ABILITY to concieve. However, lilla, it will happen for you when it is meant to happen. If it is in the larger plan for your life that you become parents, it will happen when the time is right. I am glad you are taking positive steps to make sure you are ok physically, but please don't worry yourself. Love and luck to you. :)

4 months isn't long, I have been ttc for a long time, but don't give in, it mostly takes a healthy couple to conceive with in a year. Having a cycts doesn't means u cant get pregnant it just means you'll need some help with fertility drugs, I do have PCOS and now I am on fertility pills to help me ovulate

4 months really isn't that long to try. If you were on birth control pills, you need to let your system get back to normal before you start worrying about infertility.

But if you have unusual pain and discharge, you should see your doctor anyway.
