on XFactor? I don't watch this show, cannot stand it, but every Monday morning on gmtv there is some sad deluded soul who was slated by Cowell and the team because they are truly bad singers. But they actually believe they are good? Are there really so many sad delusional people out there?

Lol I saw GMTV this morning they had that girl on who's Dad made her dress and Simon told her what he thought of her audition-that it wasn't so great (in a more firm way though),I think the people that go on there and aren't really good singers although the have ears for themselves, family members/friends have told them something different and really brought there hopes up rather than letting them down gently.I believe there are some truly good singers out there but (at this stage of the show) they become out shined by the ones who aren't as good as they are what makes the show what it is and keeps the ratings up.

Some of these 'singers' are as deluded as it is possible to be. Perhaps their family don't realise the scale of the dream they are encouraging & the scale of talent that would be needed to be a successful singer. The family mean well & they are wishing the best for their family member, but in many cases the 'singer' & the family are not being realistic - and that's being kind. They all need to get real. Surely it would be very difficult to impossible to pursue this singing dream if the natural talent is not even there in the 1st place?

Remember the lady who'd had singing lessons for 2-3 years @18 pounds per lesson? That could easily have been at least 2000 or 3000 pounds in lessons, not to mention all that time & effort put in. It must be awful to harbor a dream that you don't know will be shattered.

The singing teacher was present at his pupils' audition. Afterwards, Simon Cowell said that one word comes to mind: "Refund" Exactly! I wonder what she was like before the singing lessons?!

Maybe there is an untapped niche out there for 'singers' that cannot sing? Someone could make millions!

Oh well - love it or hate it; it makes for some good entertainment & lots of talking points afterwards!

I don't know what is worse, the person who think they are fabulous when they are rubbish singers, or those who have been told by others that they are fabulous and allowed themselves to be encouraged onto X Factor, only to be let down.

As for the lass on GMTV...she was not good enough a singer, and Simon Cowell was right to reject her. However, it seems that she was put through FOUR ROUNDS before getting to the celeb judges. Clearly the girl had no chance and it was inevitable that she was going to be hurt.
This is just not fair and I hope this kind of treatment of contestants is investigated.

Talent and being a "bad" singer are not objective measurements. What appeals to one person may sound like the world's worst rubbish to another. For instance, I tend to be unable to see "talent" in most chart R&B music, of which I am none too fond; since I don't appreciate the genre, the singers appear fairly universally unappealing to me. However, the existence of awards ceremonies for this genre proves that there are genuinely talented individuals involved.

As regards ITV's reality shows, I have often disagreed with Simon Cowell, who I think takes far too much enjoyment out of crushing people's hopes. His opinion should not be taken as indicative of an objective reality.

Come on everyone the reason most of us watch it is to see the sad ones make fools of themselves. The early rounds are fer more entertaining than when it gets serious. We sit around in hysterics at the antics of some of them and as for the fat birds dress that Dad made, that brought the house down. More idiots please.

They know they aren't talented, they simply go on the show in the hope of getting on TV and being a "celebrity" which is seems to be the Holy grail of modern society. Personally I am happy to know I can't sing without having to resort to making an **** out of myself in front of millions.
