HI

My computer is a Optima Windows Xp with 245mb of ram with a 40gb hard drive and a 2.66ghz.

My computer just crashed and I sent a error report to microsoft and they said

"that my (BIOS) system version on my computer does not match the specifications for the central processing unit (CPU) that was installed on my computer.

What does this mean???

Try resetting CMOS or replacing the CMOS battery. If PC beeps and POSTs, press Del or F2 to enter BIOS menu. Load Fail-Safe defaults, save and exit.
If this does not work, BIOS could be corrupt and needs reflashing. Let an expert do this part.

I'm taking a computer class in school right now, and I'll do my best here.

BIOS means "Basic Input Output System". Things like the mouse, keyboard, monitor, drives, etc- Mostly Hardware. Seems that your BIOS doesn't meet the criteria that your CPU demands.

Seems that you may need to upgrade your BIOS. It's a bit complicated, but search google for "upgrade BIOS" and see if the symptoms of what you're going through is caused by what I said, and if you need to upgrade it. Best of luck. (I know computer problems can be a hassle)

That means that somebody is trying to fit a processor that wont run well with your motherboard.

Theyre incompatible.

Perhaps your old cpu fried and youre putting in a new one that you shouldnt
Or youre overclocking the cpu beyond what it can do.
