every answer so far is wrong ..the correct way for standard concrete for footings is 6-3-1 BY WEIGHT not volume ..at one time in my life i worked as a bacher in a ready mixed plant ..i was the guy who mixed the concrete ..and every thing had to be weighed ..so its 6 of gravel 3 of sharp sand and one of cement ..a shovel of sand or gravel weighs a lot more than a shovel of cement ..

I don't know. I use the concrete that comes in the bag where you just add water.
