I know that nature had a reason why gays exist... the Catholic Church and other citizens believe that homosexuals do not have a purpose in this world... is procreation all they ever think about? I have some thoughts about this, but why did evolution gave way to a new 'breed'-figuratively speaking, of humans

Well if you are using nature as a template you should note that certain types of amphibians can actually change genders based on the population. So maybe if there a certain markers in the diet of the mother that fool the body into thinking resources are slimming down they flip a switch and produce a person who won't reproduce?
Men being gay I can understand more easily since all people start out as female.
Really I don't think it's important who you love as long as you love.

It didn't. Evolution has nothing to do with it. As a matter of fact, logic tells us that, if there was a 'homosexual' gene, and if society allowed people that were gay to marry, homosexuality would disappear. It wouldn't be possible to carry on the gene, since a homosexual couple is incapable of producing offspring.
The FACT is that most people have homosexual desires and curiousity. Society forces us to choose. Most children will play 'doctor' and other games that include an exploration of homosexual behavior. Society teaches us that this is wrong, so we stop. However, humans are sexual creatures. We can't be defined in simple terms. There are many people who are "10% gay" or "50%" gay. Society forces us to define things in black and white, but most people are a shade of gray.

ok saw what someone else said I feel compelled to address that first.........there is no such thing as a quarter gay or half gay, you are either gay or you're not. If you are attracted to men and find them sexually arousing just as much as you do women then you're not gay, you're not straight, you're a bisexual. Now, back to the question.......Being gay does not tell you anything about my person other than who i choose to have sex with, it does not define my character, my personality, or anything else about me point blank period end of discussion. I exist because my parents had sex and my mother got pregnant and so does everyone else on the planet. We as a society tend to fancy deep hidden meanings behind our day to day lives because it makes us feel important and boosts our ego. Is it not just enough to simply be, why cant the purpose of my existance be to exist? That is my opinion and my answer. Furthermore, to address that same person once more, while a gay couple is not able to produce an offspring with each other that gay couple is capable of producing an offspring. how so, you say? artificial insemenation is a process by which both parties in the gay couple are able to, a) father a child or b) be a mother to a child. Being gay does not make me less fertile.

Being a homosexual is not a "new" thing. There have always been gay people. I'm no expert on the subject but I'm guessing that perhaps the tendency has something to do with hormones and biochemical reactions in the body, probably even present in the fetus while it's still in the womb.

to quote scully from the x-files.. nothing exists in contradiction to nature. just our understanding of it. we are here for a reason for sure, for i don't believe that so many of us can be a mistake. and i know that we are not a mistake, or some fluke. maybe homosexuals are here simply to show that love exists in many many forms.

Yes, gays exist.
I think one of the many, many reasons they exist is to teach people to be more accepting of themselves and more comfortable with things that aren't the "norm".
And to the guy who mentioned gayness in nature: I have gay gerbils.

some human beings do this, now not all. i'm bisexual, and that i would not do this nor eat out a woman. it is not my concern. And no, a woman receiving oral would not experience like looking away. only like no guy could look away whilst getting a bj. additionally, remember: Porn is in no way a correct representation of intercourse between any orientation.

Probably just random mutation. When people actually started looking for homosexual behaviour amongst animals they were surprised at just how much they found.
