The UN is absolutely worthless. They stood by and did nothing when a million people were slaugtered in Rwanda and now they invite that terrorist from Iran into our country. Let the Swiss have them. Everybody likes the Swiss, anyway.
However, if you are about to face a Holocaust, then don't deposit your money there.

Yes, I agree that the U.N. is a worthless, toothless organization. It is ineffective, corrupt, anti-American in the extreme, and socialist to the core. I would be pleased if it ceased to exist.

However, as much as the current situation is unacceptable, abolishing the U.N. would lead to an even more unacceptable situation I fear. Right now the USA is a permanent member of the Security Council. Any new international organization would surely not allow the USA such a prominent role. And re-locating the U.N. facilities to foreign shores would further weaken our position.

So in summary: yes, the U.N. sucks and I hate what it has become. But I fear that the alternative could be even worse!

Yeah, it's mostly run by ruthless totalitarian thugs. We have one vote and we pay all the bills.

If we can't get out of it, we should at least move it to Haiti or the Sudan, where UN "peacekeepers" raped and slaughtered innocent people there.

The UN is a disgrace.

Now they're having a useless meeting on "climate change." What a farce ! And the Iranian dictator is being welcomed when he should be arrested for flaunting UN regulations as well as for holding our people hostage back in the Carter era. (Ironically, it was Carter who started the whole Islamic mess in the first place.)

For the uninformed person who said we invaded Iraq illegally; learning the truth wouldn't hurt you. Try reading a book. You could learn something. We were the only ones who followed the rules set into place by the UN. Everyone else, including the UN itself, were not going to do anything about the violations Saddam did. Sad there are so many as ignorant as this person, but maybe he just doesn't know any better, so I won't criticize him on his ignorance. If he refuses to be informed then I guess he would fall into the range of deliberate stupidity and there's nothing we can do about that.

I would argue about the worthlessness. That is usually based on a confusion about what its purpose is.

As far as kicking it out, no we cant. Well I mean we CAN. There are also major UN agencies in Geneva, The Hague, Vienna, Montreal, Copenhagen, Bonn, and elsewhere so its not like it will mess them up much. But its not very likely since we are so capitalistic. The income it generates to New York, and to the US, is an amount too large to be just tossed away because we dont like them anymore.

By the way... if you are saying the UN has failed then I hope you arent sitting in one of the countries that is years and billions behind in their dues to the UN. Kindof stupid to do both. :)

It's only fair to note that your country invaded Iraq illegally, since the UN did not ratify an occupation. That's the one good thing the UN has done lately, and you lot took no notice and did it anyway. If I were the UN council I would have left America in disgust straight after the invasion.

It's all very well to run down the Swiss but at least they don't go round barging uninvited (and very selectively) into foreign countries for completely spurious reasons.
