Is it possible to still ovulate while taking certain low dose birth control pills?

Could you also still form cysts on your ovary's while you're using birth control? Or does it guarantee that cysts won't recur cos of the birth control pill?

No, there shouldn't be any ovulation while on the pill because it takes over the cycle. Yes, sometimes even on the pill cysts can form or reform. I found this out from my doctors several years ago when I had wondered the same thing about cysts and why it didn't take care of the functional cyst I had in 2002/2003.

I would recommend checking with your doctor as well to see what they say.

Ovulation occurs in 2% to 10% of cycles of women taking the Pill.7,8,9,10,11,12,13 If 60 million women worldwide are on the low-dose Pill, there would be 1.2 to 6 million ovulations per cycle. This is known as breakthrough ovulation, and it is even more frequent with the progestin-only Pill.

YES, it is possible. That is why some women do get pregnant on the pill, even taking it as prescribed.
