Hi Sweetie,
"Royal" is a great old fashioned boys name!!! I love it!! Very historical. Have you ever heard of Laura Ingalls Wilder? She wrote the "Little house on the Prarie" series of books which were made into a long running TV series in the '80's. Her brother in law was named Royal Wilder. I always thought it sounded terrific. I have 3 boys and they all have uncommon names. As a matter of fact, my name (Delanne) is fairly uncommon. I went through a faze of hating my name, but eventually came to realize that it set me apart from everyone and gave me a unique quality. I say.... GO FOR IT!!! Love to you.

It's a very old-fashioned name, if we went back 150 years, we'd find a large number of Royals. (I do believe that Laura Ingalls Wilder had a brother-in-law by that name, in the Little House on the Prairie book series.)

So definitely a throwback to a different era, if that's something which appeals to you, then go for it. I think it's a nice choice.

I wouldn't.

As a middle name, sure. But Royal is one of those "lots to live up to" names. It has a great sound, but I just can't see putting that on a kid.

I think thats a really neat name. Its masculine yet a touch of fancy and uniqueness. I like that name......... alot. Good choice. Girls, I think, will like it too which is a must if your a guy. There are not too many guys named Sue who would advise the name as the optimum in name choices. Yep! I like it.

Please say you are kidding. When you get angry, I guess you can call him a Royal Pain. That is just the first thing that popped into my head when I read the name, Royal Pain. Sorry. Good luck.

You posted this last week, right? Or was it someone else?

Anyway, didn't like it then, don't like it now. It sounds like a character name - good for a book or a movie (Royal Tennenbaums?) but not for real life.

There's a tv weatherman here whose name is Royal Norman. I think it's okay - very unique.
