I have always been sort of obsessive/compulsive, and I often wished I had a button I could push to turn off the old thoughts.
Maybe if you have a strong mind you can imagine in your head that when you think CTRL-ALT-DEL you'll be able to start with a blank slate.
Reinforce this by reminding yourself that nearly all your thoughts are of the past, and the past is gone, so you are thinking in fantasy terms. Be willing to start all over and ask for guidance and light.
You haven't really messed up your life until you REALLY mess it up, like get yourself thrown in prison, on a mafia hit-list, or lose everything and end up on the street.
Good luck, though, you can find a new way if you seek and remain open.

No, and why would you want to? After all it is the mistakes we make that teach us lessons. They also make us more considerate and compassionate with others. There is a reason for everything we go through in life. It is up to you what you do with those lessons. You can choose to waller in pity, or you can dust yourself off and figure out how to do better next time.
