I'm not sure I fully understand your question. Here's what I can tell you from what I think you're asking.
If the remote does not lock any of the doors then the problem is with the remote. You can look at the top of the remote and you should see a small red LED that lights when you press any button. That is an indicator of the battery inside the remote. Usually the battery is the first thing to check as it would account for the intermittant locking. Batteries are cheap, so replace the battery and see if that cures the problem.
if all of the other doors lock but the driver's door does not, the problem is not with the remote but with the door lock actuator inside the door. The door lock actuator is an electric motor that pushes the lock up to unlock it and pulls it down to lock the door. Often the actuators fail in one direction and work in the other, so it may unlock the door but not lock it. So if the remote locks and unlocks that other 3 ooors then the problem is with the actuator.
It is not a problem with the key or linkage if you can unlock and lock the door with the key. Taking it to a locksmith is not the place to go; take it to a honda dealer or mechanical repair shop for diagnosis. If repairs are made at a Honda dealer they come with a 1 year warranty on parts and labor
hope that answers your question

You wanted Honda, now Pay Honda. Get it fixed right by a Honda dealer and you will continue to drive your Honda worry free for hundreds of thousands of miles. You don't want the problem to get worse, end up locked out of your own car. Just pay Honda, they have reasonable rates but just incase get quotes from at least 2 dealers.

its a fairly common problem...but what we do here at the dealer i work at is remove the lock cylinder and send it with the key to a good locksmith...they can rekey it and fix it and have a lasting result...i have personally done about 20 of these with no comebacks or problems! all thats really wrong is a tumbler inside the lock falls keeping the lock from working properly

My parents have an '03 CRV, and we've never had that problem, of course two years ago, we go the remote changed, to put a remote starter in. But prior to that, no problems.

The new key was coded to work with the vehicle's computer and the old key was deactivated. Once deactivated, a key generally cannot be reactivated for the vehicle. The dealer or locksmith that supplied the replacement key can tell her if the old key can be paired to the car again.

NOT ALL HONDAS have this problem. WTF was that guy on?? Only the 1992 Honda Accord had it. ON ANY car you have if you wear out the starter by using it alot of course it will wear down. Just get a new key from your Honda dealer since they are the only ones who can use your laser cut key code [if the '03s had them].
