What are the government going to do about the rising stem of crime, its not on... stabbings, rape ...?

I have heard many people who are emmigrating due to the stem of voilence and the way we are scared to go out, not a counutry for my children I am also contemplating moving,

same here i'm considering emmigrating as it's not Great Britain over here any more kids getting killed theres no thought of how precious there young lives are. Immigrants in by the boatful taking jobs (no i'm not rascist before anyone says anything i just say what most feel) the goverment for whatever party that takes over is useless the innocent are guilty before the truth is out and the laws are laughable as the gulity are protected and released early and the innocent get the book thrown in there face. Most ppl are on the breadline as the goverment and fat cats get all the money they don't need for doing nothing but sitting on a chair and getting a sore bum! face it folks were going down the loo waiting for George Bush to be there to flush it!

They're going to do nothing. Not until people stand up and say that they have had enough. I left England 7 years ago and felt the same way that you do now. I figured that if enough people upped and left England would be left with the immigrants and yobs as they are the only people who really want to stay there anymore. Once enough people leave the government may rethink their policies. If they do then I may think about returning. I just don't really want to raise my child in a country where they could be stabbed or shot while playing in the street. I may get thumbs down for my opinions here but I think that they only way to make the government notice is to show them how much you object to their lack of effort in anything other than being politically correct.

They will do nothing save spout platitudes. The only way to stop crime is make the penalties so severe that no-one will dare to break the law. Terribly non pc I know, but it works. For example; if you gave a serial thief six years in a really tough jail. and I mean with hard labour, then at least it would get the maggot off the streets for six years and save a lot of people a lot of grief. It might even get him to take a job a lot easier than breaking rocks. You see pictures of chain gangs in southern US states, how many of those guys re-offend? Murder should mean death, for all concerned. It was so once in Britain, and there were no gang murders.

I share your concern. If you defend yourself or property its poor underprivileged criminal. If the police do there job its brutality. This a mess we created and a mess only we can correct. However I for one will not sit by or be held hostage in my neighborhood and wait for the government do something. You be amazed how much of an impact you can make by making detailed notes and calling the police for everything that honestly looks fishy. You are after all paying the Bills. Sure, they're gonna get annoyed, but owell its part of the job. Instead of moving try to make it a better place for your kids and everyone Else's. Never Ever Become Complacent

You have crime every where you turn around but in the US you are a little bit safer. In the middle east you get your hand chopped off if you steal something. Without a trial mind you. And it's OK the beat your wife senseless in public. I'd stay in the US where at least there are laws that protect you against things like that. If you can find a place where there is no crime like us know OK?

The Government are not interest, they've even renamed the police force to the police service, that in itself tells you loads. In the 1970s they sold off all the nice little schools which are mostly now turned into flats and they started to lump all the kids together into one big prison type building and only a handful of those kids actually get somewhere in life. The rest end up with nothing else to do except have more kids because they are more or less encouraged to do it to get their hand outs.

The Government will talk about it the same as they have been doing for the past ten years.

As for the crime rate falling, there are two man reasons, one because people don't bother to report it anymore and the other because all cars are now fitted with alarms as many houses too. Now we don't have Police protection people now take more care of their property
As for going abroad, have a look at their crime rate before you move

The government will do nothing in the US because the existing system is working for the well-to-do.

I believe that smaller stable communities in the US and other countries such as Canada or France have practically no crime. You can find crime statistics on the Internet. I'd avoid communities that have drug, achohol, and unemployment problems.

Good luck... I suspect moving may be your only option.

I think the police need to be armed. How are they supposed to deal with people who have guns and knives if they have a can of pepper spray and a truncheon? They should also get rid of targets and stop arresting people for smoking marijuana - arrest the drunks smashing each other up on a saturday night!
